"Wow!" Is what I said when the box with the newly released "Timeless Elements" from Westrim Crafts arrived! Beautiful papers coordinate with the homemade look of the embellishments. You can spend an hour or two making a tag or use one of theirs. I counted six different patterns of paper on their tag, a button with a ribbon bow and a matching ribbon threaded through the eyelet at the top of the tag. Perhaps best of all is that it is a POCKET TAG that contains a small piece of coordinating paper for your journaling!

The Metal Alphabets and Metal Frames/Expressions are great! They are super thin and light so you won't get much bulk in your albums from these. There are 40 pieces in the alphabet set -- all upper case letters. There are two frames and five metal rectangles in the Metal Frames/Expressions set. The ones I used were painted pink and appeared to have been sanded in places for a distressed look. These could easily become a favorite!

Their paper is very pretty. It is available as patterned, some of which have a solid color on the reverse side, and some have multiple patterns on the same sheet with the appearance of a combining of several torn patterns. They also have 12 x 12 vellum in this line which is imprinted with words.

Materials Used:

I "altered" a cd for the first time on this layout. I chose to leave it silver to coordinate with the silver-rimmed tags.

Westrim’s Timeless Elements Collection: easy inspiration.

I was impressed when I first saw Westrim’s Timeless Elements Collection. This is a whole line of patterned papers, vellums, torn-look papers and frames and tags, “aged” wooden frames and letters, painted metal letters and frames, and rub-on words -- all coordinating with each other; all emanating a touch of artistic elegance. What fun to have all the coordinating elements of a layout right there, picked out, looking gorgeous and just waiting for you to put them together!

I was not disappointed as I got down to making layouts. As a particular fan of monochromatic (one-color) layouts, and the “artsy” look to which the Timeless Elements so easily lend themselves, working with a sampling from this collection was really a pleasure.

I started my first page at the end of the day at an all-day crop. My brain was a bit on the “fried” side and I needed to unwind with something easy and fun. You know, that elusive kind of page that just sort of comes together and “does” itself. “Smile” was that page. The dictionary definition paper from the pack of Timeless Elements Patterned Paper was “easy inspiration” for using a definition as the journaling. From there it was simple to choose a title using the letters of Timeless Elements Metal Alphabets, find a cute picture to put in the Timeless Elements Layered and Textured Frame, and put it all together colorblock style. I added vellum and blue paper from my stash as a mat around the frame and as the big “block” piece. Voila - a quick, easy page that escapes the boring.

Encouraged at my success with my first page using Westrim Timeless Elements, I decided to get a little more adventurous. I was really intrigued by the Timeless Elements Patterned Paper vellum which has quotes from famous historical figures such as Shakespeare, Napoleon, and Emerson. I also really liked the blue plaid print from this collection. I placed the quote vellum over the plaid print for an appealing affect on the background of the page: the combination of patterns is unusual and very cool. It is interesting to note that the printed papers are double sided with solid color on the back instead of white. These would be nice papers to use for projects using paper folding.

I also tried out the Timeless Elements Wood Frames/Expressions set. This is a set of two painted wooden frames, and three small blocks with words (“expressions”) etched into them. The wooden frames are mounted on sticky foam tape for easy application. The packaging on this product does not specify its acid or lignin status. I suspect that since lignin is contained in wood, that it would be hard to process the lignin out of a product such as a wooden frame. I decided to use the frames as journal boxes or with photos that were not “important.” Timeless Elements Wood Frames/Expressions as wood together with the adhesive tape are also rather thick – about 1/4 inch. Reservations aside, these frames are completely irresistible because of their aged, distressed paint job and convenient size! They are great! And throwing concerns about bulk to the wind, these pieces are easy to embellish with metal, sequins, or whatever suits your fancy.

In addition to being easy to mix-and-match among the collection, Westrim Timeless Elements have the personality to be inspiring among the rest of your scrapbooking supplies.

On the page below, I returned to that famous-authors-quote vellum for a reading themed layout. This time I placed it over white paper that had been distress inked, and built my collage on that foundation. I also used the smaller frame from Timeless Elements Wood Frames/Expressions and letters from Timeless Elements Metal Alphabets – Blue. I really like their unique, distressed look that stands up among a variety of other embellishments.

The Timeless Elements Metal Alphabets deserve noting because of their originality. These are square tablets with raised letters, poured from metal. They are painted, with the paint sanded off the raised letters. They have foamy adhesive backing, so using the letters is a snap; and while the adhesive is very sticky, it is possible to remove/reposition the pieces if you are careful. Acid-free status is not noted on packaging, however the letter tablets are amazingly thin for the look of dimension they give. I’ve never seen letters like this before, and they are so unique and fun to use. These are not the boring die-cut sticker letters of yesterday, folks! Timeless Elements Metal Alphabets come in sets of 40 letters, with two of the vowels and common letters. The more you use these letters, the more you like them!

Review by Rachel

I was so excited when I saw this package! I received the blue Timeless Elements line and black rub-on sayings. I couldn’t wait for my sister to have her baby so I could put this paper to use. I even tried bribing her into having that baby early. She and my nephew did take pity on me and Benaiah arrived six days early.

I love this line. It is so easy to use and lends itself to beautifully elegant layouts without much effort. The line is very interchangeable within itself. It makes layouts come together effortlessly. This line is versatile and very easy to use.

I received 4 pieces of patterned paper, the wood alphabet letters, the metal frames and words, and a package of the black rub-on sayings all from the Timeless Elements line.

My favorite item of this line if I had to choose just one is the wood alphabet letters. They were so fun to use. You do need to make sure that you really want to use them where you put them because once they are stuck down; they are not coming back up. I wasn’t sure of the placement so what I did was to cut out each letter with the plastic backing and place it down where I thought I wanted them. I didn’t take the plastic backing off until I was sure of placement. I used the wood alphabet letters on the layout “Meeting Benaiah.” I did run out of the letter “e” so I made my own by using an “f” and an “l”. I then glued it together with Scrappy glue and it worked perfectly. These letters add a beautiful 3-d element to the layout.

I also used the definitions piece of patterned paper included in the Timeless Elements line. This patterned paper is more like cardstock. It is excellent paper. It is a heavy weight paper and stands up beautifully to everything you can throw at it. Most patterned paper can be flimsy but this paper is very sturdy and easy to work with.

Materials Used:
Cardstock:: Khaki, Blue, White – Making Memories
Patterned Paper: Timeless Elements – Westrim
Wood Letters: Timeless Elements – Westrim
Magic Mesh: Blue 12 x 12 sheet
Chalk: Blue – Craft-T
Eyelet Numbers: Making Memories
Pen: Pigma Micron .01 – Sakura
Ink Pad: Moonstruck – Close to My Heart

I used the same piece of patterned paper on the following layout. This paper is very easy to layer, chalk, ink, distress or whatever you want to do. It is beautiful! I also used a metal frame and metal words on this layout. These embellishments are so much fun!! They are quick to use and just add that extra “WOW” to your layout! Just like the wood alphabet letters, you need to be absolutely positive about placement. I did the plastic trick again on this layout and it worked perfectly. I think the metal frame places an emphasis on my nephew’s statistics while the metal words express the emotions found in the picture. The metal words and frames are so very easy to use and would be my second favorite thing of this line.

Materials Used:
Cardstock: White- Making Memories
Cardstock: Blue – Bazzill
Patterned Paper: Timeless Elements – Westrim
Frame: Timeless Elements – Westrim
Rub-ons: Black – Westrim
Metal Words: Timeless Elements – Westrim
Magic Mesh: Blue 12 x 12 sheet
Ink Pad: Moonstruck – Close To My Heart
Circle Clips: Close To My Heart
Fibers: Unknown
Alphabet Brads: My Type- Colorbok

In this final layout, I used a little bit of everything from the Timeless Elements line. The patterned paper on this layout is absolutely gorgeous. It has 4 different patterns and has many dimensions to it without adding any bulk to your layout. I think this layout shows the versatility and ease of use within the Timeless Element line. In the package of metal words and frames, they also included some blank rectangles. I was thrilled when it dawned on me to use the rub-on sayings to make my own metal words. One tip on the rub-on sayings, I found that if I didn’t cut the one word out I was going to use that I ended up getting part of another word. Now this is more than likely my big and clumsy fingers so I remedied that problem by just cutting out the exact word that I wanted to use. Be sure to hold your word really still while pressing down with the popsicle stick. They are very slippery just like any other rub-ons I have used. They were so fun and added such a great element to this layout. I also used the small metal frame on this layout to frame another rub-on saying. I didn’t have a picture that small to frame but it was perfect for a saying.

Materials Used:
Cardstock: White and Blue – Making Memories
Patterned Paper: Timeless Elements – Westrim
Frame: Timeless Elements – Westrim
Metal Word: Timeless Elements
Rub-ons: Black – Westrim
Ink Pad: Moonstruck – Close to My Heart
Ink Pad: Black – Memories
Ribbon: Unknown
Buckles: Making Memories
Mulberry: Unknown

In conclusion, I love the Timeless Elements line. These layouts just seem to fall together and make things go so smoothly. I would recommend this line for beginners and experts alike. For beginners, it will give you the confidence that you can make beautiful layouts as well. It will also make your layouts come together so fast and easy. For the experts, it will allow you to do layouts fast and without hardly any effort. We all have those pictures from years back waiting to scrap. ;) This line is perfect for getting layouts done fast and easy! It would also be perfect for a whole gift album.

The Paper Bliss–Timeless Elements Line is a beautiful monochromatic set of coordinates that include two-sided Paper with subtle patterned paper on one side and a matching cardstock on the reverse. There are Layered and Textured Tags, Metal Frames/Expressions, Wood Alphabets, Rub On Transfers and many more amazingly detailed accessories. The whole line makes it easy to do many pages of the same theme without repeating the exact page. It would be easy to make a whole album, such as a wedding or baby album with the Timeless Element Line.

My first Layout is titled "My Wedding"

In this layout, the deep pink solid side of the Paper Bliss: Timeless Elements Paper coordinates perfectly with the pretty pink plaid. The Paper Bliss: Timeless Element –Wood Alphabet is a perfect size for a title. The words are easy to apply and really lightweight. The tag ont he bottom is really a Paper Bliss: Timeless Element Frame, I covered the little windows with a word quote and applied a Paper Bliss: Timeless Element Rub On Transfer. The Rub On Transfers are easy to apply with a wooden popsicle stick (that is included) and are a perfect size. The Frames and Tags have been made with great attention to detail. They have included buttons tied with ribbon, handmade paper and layering of the different papers included in the pack. The frames can be used many ways and add pizzaz.

The second Layout is another wedding design. I layered the Paper Bliss Timeless Element Patterned Paper the opposite direction and used another Paper Bliss Timeless Layered and Textured Paper Tag. On this page, I added a sticker mounted on the plaid coordinate paper and a small white ribbon bow.

The third layout is a really fun page. I had cut my original wedding photos into small parts. The cute little pocket tag (Paper Bliss-Timeless Elements Layered and Textured Paper Tags), holds one photo. It can be removed for closer inspection. The tag has homemade paper, eyelets, ribbon and layered paper. I used some of the plaid paper to make some little paper frames for the other small pictures. The postage sized stickers fit perfectly on the insert for the pocket tag. The title is made from the combined Timeless Elements Rub On Transfers and the Wood Alphabet.

The fourth layout is a little more masculine, I used the Paper Bliss Timeless Element Collection Rub On Transfers and Wood Alphabet (pink). This page demonstrates combining the Timeless Element Collection Wood Alphabet and Rub On Transfers together to form a title.

I definitely recommend the Paper Bliss–Timeless Elements Line for the beginner and the expert scrapper. The double sided cardstock is a nice weight and of good quality. The Tags and Paper Frames include all the sophisticated extras like buttons tied with ribbon and handmade paper. The Wood Alphabets are easy to use and very lightweight.

Rub On Transfers are quickly becoming a favorite of mine. It is possible to apply them to paper, ribbon, plastic, or wood. One note of caution with the rub on words, if you rub too hard, you may smear the word. Also, occasionally a word does not transfer completely, just peek under the plastic, if it still is adhered to the plastic, rub a little more. It is also possible to fill in little spaces with a marker.

Westrim released the Timeless Elements collection this year in June. The line carries an assortment of beautiful papers and embellishments. I was able to work with and design a few layouts using a few of these new products. I started out with one sheet of Double Sided Pink Patterned Paper, one sheet of Pink Vellum with quotes, two sheets of Double Sided Blue Patterned Paper, a package of five Wood Frames/Expressions: pink, a package of two Layered and Textured Paper Tags: blue, and a package of Rub-on Transfers: white.

When first viewing the products I immediately thought "boy pages" and "girl pages" because of the colors. However, upon closer inspection, I discovered that the themes were not your “typical” boy/girl themes.

The themes and colors presented a challenge for me. I had to retrain my brain to think of those colors in different terms and not be constrained by the standard boy/girl/baby pages. I feel I succeeded in the layouts that follow.

My first layout uses the Westrim Timeless Elements Patterned Paper and Wood Frames/Expressions. The Patterned Paper, which is themed with definitions of all types, is double sided and consists of nice heavy weighted paper. I really appreciated the fact that the paper was sturdy. The Wood Frames/Expressions package comes with a selection of two frame sizes and three small placards, two with printed words and one blank. I used the largest frame on this layout. Because the Patterned Paper is pink and the Frame is pink, I chose to give the frame some contrast by inking the outside edge with charcoal and pink colored inks. These are the same colored inks I used for the title, which I stamped right on the frame.

Note: the Wood frames all come with a strong adhesive on the back so be sure you know where you want to place it before removing the protective film!

Materials Used:
Westrim – Timeless Elements Collection: Pink Patterned Paper, Wood Frames/Expressions - Pink
Bazzill Basics – textured cardstock
K & Co. – patterned paper (Life’s Journey Collection)
All Night Media – Media Alphabet Stamps
Color Box – Fluid chalk inks
Other – button

My second layout uses beautiful, soft Pink Vellum with script quotes from the Timeless Elements Collection as well as the White Rub-on Transfers. I enjoyed using this vellum because of its soft look. I am one of those people who are afraid of using vellum, so I had some trepidation when I first saw it, but by simply tearing away one corner and layering it on top of cardstock, the whole layout has a tender look.

The Rub-on Transfers words are absolutely fabulous and I have recently become addicted to this type of embellishment. I love the simplicity of them. It is a great way to add a sentiment to your photos without any mess. You receive two sheets of rub-ons with approximately 35 diff erent words or sentiments per sheet! These are great for scrapbook pages and cards as well.

Title:‘Friends Together’
Materials Used:
Westrim – Timeless Elements Collection: Pink Vellum, Rub-on Transfers -white
Bazzill Basics – textured cardstock
K & Co. – epoxy stickers (Life’s Journey Collection)
Making Memories – Rub-on letters
Other – Micron 05 - black

My final layout uses a blue, double sided, Patterned Paper, a Layered and Textured Paper Tag, and White Rub-on Transfers from the Westrim Timeless Elements collection. The patterned side has a montage of envelopes giving it a look of reminiscence. I decided to age the paper with chalks and create a page for the letters I sent to my husband while he was out to sea.

On the first page, I used one of the Layered and Textured Paper Tags (there are two in a package) and used the coordinating paper, already in the tag, to write a short note that tucks neatly inside. I also used White Rub-on Transfers to emphasize the word "Love" on the tag. The rest of the page is my title and a verse and chorus from a popular country song.

The second page of this layout holds a vellum pocket in which I have tucked in several of the letters my husband had saved.

Title:‘Love Letters from Home’’
Materials Used:
Westrim – Timeless Elements Collection: Blue (envelope) Pattered Paper, Layered and Textured Paper Tag: blue, Rub-on Transfers: white
Craf-T – Decorating chalk kit #3
K & Co. – epoxy stickers (Life’s Journey Collection)
Making Memories – eyelets
Other – Micron 05 – black, vellum, fiber, transparency

In summary, I think this is a beautiful collection. I have not seen the entire line but I think the materials themselves are well crafted and striking. The paper is a great heavy weight, and the vellum too is sturdy, not flimsy as is often the case with vellum. The Tags and Frames are attractive and well crafted. I enjoyed using them a lot, and the Rub-on Transfers are just plain fun! Westrim is very generous in their packaging as well and you definitely get your money's worth.
