Review by AprilThe Yuletide Collection from Tinkering Ink provides scrapbookers and paper crafters with a decorative and classy look for all their holiday projects! I was very excited to be included in this review and I admire the great quality of all the Tinkering Ink products I've worked with in the past.
For this review, I received the complete Tinkering Ink Yuletide Collection which contained the following: 12 beautiful heavyweight double sided papers, one 12" x 12" sheet of Tabs & Tags die cuts, one 12" x 12" sheet of Die Cut Alphabet Letters, one 12" x 24" sheet of custom coordinating Die Cut Cardstock Monograms, a sheet of Transfers, and a sheet of Yuletide Finery. The colors in this collection consisted of light grey blues & greens, creams, dark greys, and deep dusty reds, and they all had a very elegant and antique feel to them. The paper patterns came in a variety of solids, swirls, poinsettias, stripes, snowflakes, and more! The Yuletide Finery consists of 7 felt decorations infused with silicone embellishments and they all come with adhesive on the back. The entire alphabet is represented on the Die Cut Monograms, each approximately 3-4" in height. The coordinating Die Cut Alphabet has one or more of every letter in the alphabet, includes numbers 0-9, and all of them are around 2" in height. There are 11 coordinating fancy rub-ons on the 5" x 8" Yuletide Transfers sheet.
When I saw the Yuletide papers, I knew right away what pictures I wanted to use for my first project! My daughter had fallen asleep in her great aunt's arms on Christmas night and I thought the pictures were just so sweet. I printed them out in sepia because I thought it would match perfectly with the delicate colors and graceful designs of the Yuletide papers. I used a glitter pen to add sparkle to the alphabet die cuts and several of the patterns.

For my second project, I created a 2007 holiday planner by decorating a plain composition book. I cut out the large poinsettia from the Euphorbia Pulcherrima paper and dressed it up with a glitter pen. I loved how everything coordinated so beautifully and had such a rich classic look.

I've really gotten into creating home decor lately and since the holidays are approaching, I wanted to try making a paper wreath for my scraproom door! I cut wide strips from several of the Yuletide papers, painted the edges with gold metallic paint, folded them into loops, then adhered them to a metal wreath. I embellished the wreath with Yuletide Transfers, Finery, and several ribbons. To complete the holiday wreath I also added three glittery bells.

I enjoyed working with such a stylish holiday collection. The papers and embellishments had a very unique look, and offered a polished color scheme to create with. The transfers worked like a dream, rubbing off easily, yet also staying in place until transferred onto a surface. I think this collection would be perfect for holiday heritage photos, cards, home decor, etc...and I would definitely recommend it to everyone!
Review by CatherineTinkering Ink is one of those companies which have carved out a specific niche in the scrapbooking community. When I think of huge, bold patterns and unusual color combinations, then Tinkering Ink is usually what I think of. It is no surprise to me then that Tinkering Ink’s Christmas Line “Yuletide” offers just those things: Bold, big patterns and unusual Christmas colors. I have reviewed several Tinkering Ink Collections in the past, so I was eager to get my hands on the Yuletide Collection.
The Tinkering Ink Yuletide Collection is made up of twelve different double-sided cardstock weight patterned papers. There is also one sheet of Cardstock Tabs and Tags, one sheet of solid colored Cardstock lowercase alphabets, one sheet of patterned uppercase alphabets, one coordinating package of Finery, and a package of Transfers in the Collection. The patterned papers in this collection are a little bit different than those in previous collections, because not all of the patterned papers have a solid colored paper on the back. Some of the papers have smaller prints or different prints on the back. Whichever side one uses, the possibilities when using the Tinkering Ink Collections is always limitless. The colors in the Yuletide Collection are a bit surprising for Christmas Papers. Yes, they are red and green and blue, as one would expect, but the deep burgundy, olive, and light blue color combinations are unusual to say the least. The Finery and Transfers from this collection are perfectly coordinated and, as usual, of the highest quality and fun to use.
For my first project, I used the Joyous Noel patterned paper as the background and starting point for my layout. I also used some of the die-cut lowercase alphabet sheet, and Finery to embellish the page. The pictures that I used on the page are treasured photos, and I feel that they are perfectly accented through the use of the Yuletide Collection.

I always find that when I am using Tinkering Ink Products, it is best to just jump in with both feet. After completing my first page, subsequent pages came easily and quickly. I love the look of all of the different black and white Patterned Papers that have become so popular recently. I was happy to see that there was a black and cream colored paper, Advent, in the collection. I used this paper, along with one of the Transfers on my next layout.

There are not just Christmas Themed Papers in this collection. There is also a snowflake printed Patterned Paper. This paper is light blue on both sides and has big bold cream colored snowflakes printed on one side, and smaller cream colored snowflakes on the other. I chose to use the smaller snowflakes to highlight some winter photos of my middle son from last year.

Although I had already created three different layouts using primarily Tinkering Ink products, I found that I had a good deal of papers and products left over. I was quickly able to whip up a Christmas card using a scrap from the collection, as well as one of the beautifully Finery stickers.

I have truly enjoyed working with the Tinkering Ink Yuletide Collection. I am always impressed by the quality, uniqueness, and beauty of Tinkering Ink products, and this line is no exception. I was also wishing that I had some older Christmas photos to scrap, as I think this line would be perfect to add that vintage touch to any layout. If you are looking for a bold, out of the ordinary, perfectly coordinating paper and product line to scrap your Holiday photos, then you should definitely give a look to the Tinkering Ink Yuletide Collection.
Review by KarenIt’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at Tinkering Ink. For this review, I am working with the Yuletide collection. The collection pack I was sent to work with contains 12 papers, 1 die cut sheet, 1 die cut alphabet sheet, 1 monogram sheet, 1 package of Finery, and 1 package of Transfers.
The colors of the Yuletide collection are beautiful but not necessarily the traditional red and green. I really like that. The green is more of an evergreen, while the red leans towards burgundy. There is a beautiful cream color as well as light blue and brown. I love the color palette. The thing that sticks out the most is the burgundy and how it works with the reds in my pictures.
There are three different die cut sheets, two alphabets and a shape sheet. The monogram sheet contains large letters while the die cut alphabet sheet has smaller letters. The Finery pack is great! I love the mixture of felt with the graphic edge of the images. In my first layout, I used the large circular felt piece to break up the hard edges of the square shapes.

My second layout uses the Finery as well as the die cut shapes and die cut alphabet sheet. If you look closely at the photos, there are oranges and reds in the children’s clothing, but the reds in the die cut images and the large poinsettia shape that I cut from one of the patterned paper sheets all match.

My last project centers on the snow paper found in this collection. On one side of the paper you will find small snowflakes, while the other side has large snowflakes. I love how easy it was to find rubber stamps that worked with this collection. I added rub-ons and even a snowflake from the Finery.

I really am pleased with this Yuletide collection. I feel that the collection will work well with holiday photos as well as winter photos. I can even see some camping photos working with this collection. I love the ease of the rub-ons. They go on like butter and stand up to being used on dark paper.
This collection is one that I highly recommend. It’s more diverse than the name leads you to believe. The graphic images as well as the color pallet really make this a must have collection, and that’s before you start to consider the embellishments.
Review byReneeTinkering Ink is a fresh, funky scrap booking company specializing in bright, colorful designs presented in a new way. Their papers are cardstock weight and feature designs printed on both sides of the papers. Each collection features patterns centered around a color palette theme, without the “themed” feel. All the patterns coordinate together for a complete look.
For this review, I received the Tinkering Ink Yuletide collection. Featured in this collection are papers called names like Neige, Petite Poinsettias, Seasonal Stripes, Jubilee, Lucia, Magi, Holiday Harlequin, Joyous Noel, Euphorbia Pulcherrima, Alleluia, Advent, and Tannenbaum. The collection also features a sheet of cardstock alphabets, a sheet of monogram alphabets in the various patterns from the collection and a sheet of cardstock die cuts called Tabs and Tags. In addition, the collection features coordinating finery, a felt and vinyl embellishment unique to Tinkering Ink, and a sheet of the new rub on’s which also coordinate with the collection.
For my first project, I used the Tannenbaum and Seasonal Sripes papers from the collection to create a masculine Christmas page for my son. The patterns from the paper have a very masculine feel which is unusual for most papers. Because the papers are so colorful and bright, they need very few embellishments. For this layouts, I used a simple chipboard star that I painted and crackled as an accent for an upbeat boyish Christmas layout.

Crackle Paint (Tim Holtz)
Chipboard Star (Unknown)
Alphabet Stickers (SEI)

Adhesive (Adhesive Tech, Permanent Bond Glue Runner)
For my second project, I used the papers to create a non-Christmas layout. I used the Joyous Noel, Jubilee and Petite Poinsettias papers to do a fun paper layering. I used a piece from the finery collection to draw the eye across the page. In addition, I added a fun crystal swirl and heart to add a bit of flash and shine to the layout.

Patterned Paper (Tinkering Ink Yuletide)
Finery (Tinkering Ink)
Crystal Swirl and heart (Prism Say it in Crystals)

For my final project, I created a card using the papers. I used the Joyous Noel paper coupled with a rub-on from the rub-on sheet to make a simple, elegant card. The papers are beautiful and easy to work with. However, the rub-ons are divine. They rub-on smooth, just like butter. The designs are elegant and work extremely well with patterns.

The Yuletide collection from Tinkering Ink is a very versatile collection of paper. It is useful for both Christmas and non-Christmas layouts, a definite plus when shopping. The included accents, alphabets, finery and rub-on’s make coordinating layouts together extremely easy. If you are looking for a versatile line of scrapbook papers, this one is definitely one to try.
Review by TammyTinkering Ink continues to impress me with each new collection that is released. The Yuletide collection is no exception - with the Tinkering Ink signature of bold designs and rich colors I couldn't wait to get started.
I received 12 double-sided sheets of 12" x 12" cardstock; 1 sheet of Finery; 1 - 12 x 12 sheet of Tab and Tags; 1 - 12" x 12" sheet of Die Cut Alphabets; 1 - 12" x 12" sheet of Die Cut Monograms; and 1 sheet of Transfers. Eleven of the twelve sheets of cardstock were solid on one side and a beautiful pattern on the other. The Neige cardstock was the exception, which had a small snowflake pattern on one side and a larger snowflake pattern on the other. The colors and patterns in this collection are not your traditional reds and greens with Snowmen and Santa Claus. Instead you will find burgundy, chocolate, dark green; and soft blue mixed with swirls, poinsettias, and snowflakes.
The non traditional colors in the Yuletide collection have a "grown-up" feel which works well for those of us who do not include Santa as part of their Christmas celebrations. I also like the fact that some of the patterns are general enough that they can be used for everyday photos, not just those taken during the Holiday season.
When I first saw this collection, I knew what photograph I would be using with these papers. The Joyous Noel cardstock was the perfect match for this layout and the flower (made from the Tabs and Tags Die Cut sheet) was just the right embellishment that I needed. To make the flower "pop", I outlined it with a gold Krylon pen and used foam tape to add dimension. I used the white flourish Transfers behind the photograph and added some silver/gray accents to the flower. The monograms seemed to blend into the background so I also outlined it with the gold Krylon pen and what a difference that made! Since I had some very emotional journaling surrounding this photograph, I decided to create a way to hide the journaling behind the photograph.

I created a card out of the Joyous Noel cardstock that would easily slip behind the photograph. Next, I added a small circle from the Tab and Tags sheet for the pull on the card and then I added my journaling. In keeping with the flow of the page, I also outlined the card and the tab with the gold pen.

Since the colors and patterns in the Tinkering Ink Yuletide collection are designed to coordinate with the embellishments; creating a beautiful layout is simple! By combining Karen's November 3rd Sketch with the coordinating papers and embellishments, I was able to complete this simple but yet very personal page in under 15 minutes.

For my final layout, I decided to use this picture that I had taken just a day ago. My son decided that he wanted to decorate our small Christmas tree and put his N gauge train set around it. Of course it was the perfect opportunity to take pictures and I just couldn't resist this one that showcased my snow globe and my son's train making its way around the tree.
To create the flourish design, I used half of the Neige flourish from the Tab and Tags sheet and covered a piece of chipboard with the coordinating patterned cardstock. I then layered the maroon flourish transfer over the top to add more depth and dimension to the design. I tied a piece of ribbon around the chipboard and added a coordinating flower.

I just couldn't get away from used the gold Krylon pen on all three of the layouts that I created with the Yuletide collection by Tinkering Ink. I think that the added touch of gold on the edges of some of the pieces brought out the richness of this collection.
Tinkering Ink is such a versatile paper line and the Yuletide is no exception. Most of the designs and colors in this collection can reach far beyond the holiday season. With the dark brown and maroon patterns mixed with marbled designs, a person could easily use these papers for anything from formal events, to everyday, outdoor type photographs.
Thank you Tinkering Ink for another terrific collection to choose from!
