Tinkering Ink is a company I have come to admire, respect, and love! You can always count on receiving wonderful customer service, their products being of exceptional quality, and a unique and stylish selection of scrapbook products. I love the fact that scrapbookers can expect something original yet distinctive when new Tinkering Ink collections are created. This company may have started just a couple of years ago, but they already carry a prestigious reputation. Needless to say, I was very excited about being included in this review of their new beautiful Provincial Fare Collection!

For this review, I received the complete Provincial Fare collection which included:

The 12 double-sided patterned papers were unique and exceptionally colored. They came in a variety of coordinating blues, whites, and creams, and included posh designs like big and small floral arrangements, superb stripes, damask arrangements and geometrical illustrations. All of the patterned papers were heavy in weight which made them great for serving as layout backgrounds and perfect for distressing. The Tab & Tag sheet was filled with 15 different die cuts in various shapes like circles, long rounded tabs, and border blocks. Each of them displayed a different design that coordinated with the entire collection. The Alphabet sheet is made up of over 40 die cut letters and numbers all ranging from approximately 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 inches in height. The letters come in solid colors like dark blue, slate blue, and cream. Each of the letters on the Monogram die cut sheet, are a little over 5 inches in height and come in the same patterns found on the Provincial Fare papers. Tinkering Ink's finery is described as small elaborate adornments. There are 7 Provincial Fare finery pieces, all of them fashioned after matching paper designs, and each one is a felt infused embellishment with silicone. This collection also comes with 10 very pretty and decorative cardstock stickers on a 5" x 9" sheet. They are heavy in weight, great for distressing, stick well, yet also peel off easily if you happen to decide you would rather place them somewhere else on the page.

Last but not least, are the Provincial Fare transfers. I adore these rub-ons and consider them to be some of the best available today. They represent patterns from the collection's papers and are just beautiful. They rub off easily and completely, and you get over 35 different designs in lovely blue and white hues. With so many different choices that all coordinate, you just can't go wrong!

I thought the beautiful blues in this collection would coordinate perfectly with the picture I wanted to use for my first layout. I cut out swirls, flowers, and leaves from the Beacon Hill and Willow papers and pieced them together to make the flower for my page. I added a few of the Provincial Fare transfers around the beautiful sticker quote that I placed on pop dots. I placed 2 of the die cut tabs behind my picture and cut a strip off of the bottom of the Tabs & Tags sheet and adhered it across the bottom of the Coventry strip. To complete the design, I rubbed glitter glue all over the page, added journaling, and glitter pen doodling.

As soon as I saw the huge floral piece on the Royal Doulton paper, I knew I wanted to use it on a layout. I cut out the large flower trio, adhered it to my page, and then added various cut stems and flowers around it. To accentuate it even more, I adhered small transfers around the flowers and in the middle of three of them. I also added a circular Provincial Fare sticker placed on pop dots in the center of another flower and then decorated them with glitter glue. I loved the alphabet die cuts and thought simply using our initials would be cute for a title.

For my third project, I created a corkboard wall hanging with decorative pebble tacs. I punched holes in a sheet of cardboard, and attached ribbon so that I could hang it after it was done. Then I glued the cardboard to a 12" x 12" piece of corkboard and painted the edges with a blue metallic paint. To decorate the board, I added Provincial Fare transfers, finery, cardstock stickers, and a flower cut from the Royal Doulton paper. To create the pebble tacs, I applied E600 adhesive to the backs of 8 large glass pebbles, then I simply pressed them down on select Provincial Fare cardstock stickers, tab die cuts, finery, and a couple of the papers. After they dried, I trimmed all the pieces, added another dab of E600 to the backs of the pebbles and pressed a thumb tacs into them. After these dried, I placed them on the corkboard and they can now be used as decorative tacs!

I love the outstanding quality of products made by Tinkering Ink and I thought this particular collection was just beautiful! I loved the colors, the patterns, and the wide selection of coordinating embellishments the Provincial Fare Collection had to offer. With prints like stripes, swirls, florals, and damask patterns, it's easy to create projects for multiple themes and genders. The beautiful blues in this collection are extremely eye catching and when they are combined with such elegant and delicate pattern designs, you are left with a very sophisticated, and charming collection to create with. This is definitely one collection I would recommend to all crafters!

Provincial Fare - pass a spot of tea please...

That's the thought I had when I first saw the blues and whites of Tinkering Ink's latest collection, Provincial Fare. Visions of beautiful china and sipping afternoon tea in elegant teacups - ah yes, that would be grand! Long, sweeping swirls, flourishes and simple flowers are the patterns found on the 12" x 12" paper with a stripe and simple oval dot thrown in. The patterns are uncomplicated yet bring a sophistication and crispness to the Collection that I haven't observed in other lines from Tinkering Ink. The pure and simple color scheme of blue tones, white and ivory lends a beauty to the design without the utter boldness of a black and white color combination. I found it refreshing to work with as I completed multiple projects with the material provided for the review!

As in other Tinkering Ink Collections, there are 12 double-sided papers with accompanying large punch-out alphabets, monograms and Tabs and Tags. Smaller 5" x 9" sheets of cardstock stickers, transfers and rubber infused felt known as Finery, all add great embellishment opportunities and texture accents. Everything matches, there is a lot to choose from in the shape and size department and just about any picture will be complemented by this paper. Feminine to masculine and heritage to contemporary, Provincial Fare will cover it all!

Speaking of feminine, the first project is a "girly-girl" one that accentuates flourishes, scallops and bling! The dark background was a perfect base and since the Tinkering Ink paper is substantial enough to stand up as a foundation for a page, I built from there to the embellishments on the top. The Creative Imaginations scalloped edge cream paper was a terrific complement to the "Spode" Provincial Fare pattern. I carried the scallop and eyelet edge theme onto the base of the circular Finery piece by using one of the Nestabilities dies to cut a scalloped circle. To jazz up the Finery a little more, Stickles glitter glue was added into the flower petals. The 3D segments of the Finery made it very easy to capture the glue and made sure it didn't distort the design in any way. The patterned piece above the Finery accent worked double duty as part of it was trimmed and used to the lower right also. Mini circle Transfers (rub-ons) served as the base starting point for each bling flourish. I really enjoyed using many of the coordinating embellishments to complete this page without any single one taking away from the focal picture.

One of the features about Tinkering Ink papers that I love is that they are undistressed. For this page, the Staffordshire pattern needed some distressing to match the other 2 patterns, so I sanded the paper and crumpled it for effect. The embellishment cluster next to the journaling sheer mirrors the colors of the patterned papers. A gathering of transfer rub-ons at the top of the title is a combination of individual pieces layered to form the design - something that I find easy to do with the Tinkering Ink transfers. The sheet comes with a bunch of small and large designs that are similar enough to group together cohesively or to use independently for a small accent.

When I saw the Coventry pattern, I knew that I needed to make a couple name tags under glass! The pattern has just the right spacing to stamp a name in the center of one of the frames perfectly showcasing the center of the pin. The pattern is also just the right size for a microscope slide or memory frame! Some extra embellishing with fancy fiber, rhinestones, fringe and beads adds a nice 3D feature to the pin front. The "Andrea" pin uses one Finery parenthesis to cover the bottom of the frame, highlight the center rhinestone while easily wrapping around the sides to secure in the back! The left pin is one of the cardstock stickers trimmed down a little to fit on the glass with a little wire and beadwork added for extra dimension.

As a final project, I continued with my weekly altered jumbo playing card technique deck. Since the Provincial Fare papers are all blue and white, I couldn't help but use them for a patriotic touch on this week's card about the word "proud". The Alphabet die cut letters were the ideal size and handled the Stickles glitter glue well with no warping or discoloring. The foundation of "Coolport" patterned paper took the stamping and layering with no problems.

Provincial Fare has been one of my more favorite Tinkering Ink collections to work with for it's versatility and depth. I love the variety of embellishments, from large to small and simple to fancy. The patterns are a nice blend of floral elements with more fanciful flowing designs all coming together with no hesitation. I do wish though, that there were 2-3 solids included on the backs of some of the patterns. The tones of blue are so beautiful that a couple light and dark solid tones would have been nice for matting and backgrounds.

Kudos to you Tinkering Ink for making such a breathtaking collection! I can see keeping Provicial Fare in my stash to have available at a moment's notice - it's the new must have "black and white"!

Review by Chris

When I first saw Provincial Fare, the latest collection to be released by Tinkering Ink, I was instantly brought back to my grandmother’s dining room, where she kept her collection of Blue Willow china. The familiar shades of blue mixed with the white background invoked such a feeling of nostalgia for me. The papers in this collection are just that: shades of blue with white or cream backgrounds and accents. Although some might wonder about a purely monochromatic collection, Tinkering Ink has pulled it off with amazing grace!

The collection includes 12 two-sided papers (all named after different patterns of china), a sheet of tabs and tags, a sheet of die cut alphabet letters and a sheet of larger monogram letters, a set of transfers, a set of Tinkering Ink’s unique finery embellishments, and a sheet of cardstock stickers. This is everything you need to create many beautiful projects!

Something unique to Tinkering Ink is the design of the two-sided cardstock. Many companies include a different pattern on the back or a complimentary solid color. Tinkering Ink has come up with a very clever alternative. The front side of the paper is a design of larger scale, and on the reverse, the same pattern is repeated in a smaller scale and proportion. The larger scale design has a high impact value, and while the smaller scale compliments it, the smaller design is also more fitting for smaller-sized projects and cards. Great idea!!!

I love that the collection includes blue with white, but also, blue with cream. I really like to use the Technique Tuesday Tiles. They stamp and ink so well, but I also love to leave them plain or lightly embellished, and they are a perfect match for the cream in the Provincial Fare collection. On this layout, I cut apart some of the Tinkering Ink Transfers and added them to a tile flower to create a unique embellishment for my page. I used a “large” design paired with a “small” design on this layout. I love how the motion in the design of the papers and embellishments contrasts with the stillness of Matt and Lily napping in these photos. I do continue to have trouble getting the letters out of the die cut sheet and I would love it if they were self-adhesive.

On this layout, I selected three different designs in the smaller scale. Although the designs are distinctly different, they compliment each other and work together to create a lot of interest on the page. I used the blue and white color scheme here and painted my Grungeboard letters white. Frosted Lace Stickles were used to cover the Fleur de Lis design on the Tag. Notice how the Lace Stickles look silver when applied over the dark blue of the patterned paper. The weight of the cardstock accepted the Stickles perfectly with no warping.

I love to experiment with new techniques. I find them in magazines, in classes, and on the internet. I wanted a handy reference book where I can keep examples and instructions/sources for them and decided a tag book would fit the bill. I have some over-sized shipping tags which are the perfect size for creating a good example. I used the Tinkering Ink paper to cover the front and pack covers for the book and embellished the front with a tag and some finery. I know this book will get a lot of use and I think the Tinkering Ink paper will stand up to it over time. The binder rings will allow me to expand the contents of the book as I create additional samples.

Although I usually like a little more choice in color in my scrapbook papers, this monochromatic line from Tinkering Ink has won me over! The china-pattern inspired designs are simply gorgeous; I love the versatility offered by the larger and smaller scale in the designs; the finish on the papers is the high quality finish we have come to expect from Tinkering Ink; and the accompanying embellishments are unique and versatile. The entire package gets a huge thumbs-up from me!! You’re certainly going to want to add this collection to your inventory.

I fell in love with Tinkering Ink's new Provincial Fare Collection as soon as I saw it. The light and dark navy blues combined with white and cream make a visually appealing contrast that grabs your attention.

The beauty of this collection was my first impression and I knew I wanted it, but I was also unsure how I'd use it. The flowers, diamonds, birds and swirls that are sprinkled across the pages are pretty enough to display on their own. The contrast of the blues with white and cream are nice and bold but the limited color range gives them a much more subdued look than many of Tinkering Ink's other collections.

The double-sided cardstock-weight patterned paper is available in 12 different designs including four floral designs, three swirl designs, stripes, two diamond designs and one pattern containing circles, hearts and birds and lastly a pattern of circles and ovals. Each paper has a larger print on one side and a smaller coordinating print on the reverse. Papers retail for $.79 each.

This collection also includes a Tab and Tag sheet with three large rectangular tags, one border tag, four small and one large circle, a leaf, two squares and three rectangular shaped with one end curved. The Tab and Tag sheet retails for $2.49.

The Die Cut Alphabet sheet has a tall rounded font in solid medium blue, navy blue and cream. Most of them are 3 to 3 1/2 inches tall. They are so fun to work with! The Die Cut Alphabet sheet is $1.99.

The Die Cut Monogram sheet has one large uppercase letter A - Z in the same patterns as the papers. They measure in at a whopping 5 1/2 inches tall and retail for $3.99.

The Finery - felt infused with silicone - contains brackets, a circle, an oval, a square and a rounded rectangle in dark blue and white. The Finery is $5.99.

The Cardstock Stickers pack has two border stickers, one scrolled frame, two rectangles, four circles and two squares. Most of these contain a quote or sentiment like "For You" that would work very well in cardmaking. The Cardstock Sticker pack is $1.49.

And I saved the best for last, the coordinating navy blue rub-on transfers! Leaves, flowers, swirls, circles and birds are all here for you to enjoy. Tinkering Ink's rub-ons are the best I've tried and these were no exception. They retail for $4.99 each.

My first project includes two patterned papers, a large finery circle, two tags and a couple rub-on transfer swirls to help frame my photo.

I love the versatility of this collection. You can keep the blue/cream/white for a softer look or add additional color for greater impact. The patterns are generally feminine but the color scheme is not and I found the papers to work well with many subjects.

Tinkering Ink has paid a great deal of attention to the quality and design of their products. From their first collection to the most recent, you can count on a unique selection of high quality products that stand out from the crowd.

Review by Karen

Classic beauty would be the words that I would use to describe one of Tinkering Ink’s newest collections, Provincial Fare. This collection is simply beautiful! Based on traditional blue and white china, Tinkering Ink has once again created a collection that is comfortable and familiar while being cutting edge.

Provincial Fare’s color theme is shades of blue, white and cream. While the patterns contain florals and flourishes that really feel like the patterns you would find on china.

In my kit, I received:

One of my favorite things about these papers is that there is a large version of the print on one side and the reverse is either the same pattern only smaller or it’s a coordinating pattern. This is wonderful because the papers can work with so many more photos!

For me there are two items from Tinkering Ink that I have not worked with before. The first is the Transfers and the other is the cardstock sticker sheet. I am a huge fan of rub-ons and was really excited about working with the ones from Tinkering Ink. I was not disappointed. The sheet is about 5”x 9” and packed with images. One difference with these rub-ons, is that I had a difficult time seeing when they had transferred. However, once you use them for a bit you begin to get a feel for when they have transferred. And I really like how actually transfer. The larger images come off the backing sheet as easily as the smaller images, and they don’t break. This is really a great set of rub-ons.

The cardstock stickers are a wonderful weight and closely die cut to the image. In this collection, the stickers all have quotes and phrases having to do with friendship and love. The quotes are very universal and would work well on both scrapbook pages and cards. There are several graphic stickers as well. One of my favorite stickers I used in the mini album that is my first project. I didn’t think that the quote fit the theme of my mini album so I used an exacto knife to cut the center away. I then added the frame of the sticker to a piece of paper so that I had a journaling spot.

In my second project I used the cardstock sticker boarder to a patterned paper strip. I then added jewels to the cardstock sticker. I love how Staffordshire and Coventry both look like iron work. I thought that it was perfect for these pictures from Disney’s Haunted Mansion. I used the smaller print from both papers. Lastly, I added the circle piece from the Finery to complete the page. I really laove how this collection mixes both cream and white.

The background in this layout has to be my most favorite paper in this collection. It’s called Haviland. And I love the circle detail, which happens to be repeated on the Tab and Tag sheet as well as in the rub on sheet. I used the die cut alphabet to create part of my title. I love the font of this collection, again it is very classic and would work with many different pages.

I actually created a fourth project with this collection, and I have to say that I still have some wonderful papers to create new projects with. This page uses the larger print from Twilight Melody, as well as the letters from the die cut alphabet sheet and a piece from the Tab and Tag sheet. For a little added interest, I added some Stickles to the piece from the Tab and Tag sheet.

I really love this collection and the timeless feel that it has. The cardstock stickers are a wonderful addition to the Tinkering Ink product line, and one I can’t wait to get more of. I have fallen in love with Tinkering Ink and the top notch products they product. This collection is simply going to become a staple in the scrappers stash. Mark my words, Navy is now the new black in scrapbooking! Way to go Tinkering Ink on creating another collection that everyone is going to need! And thank you for allowing us to give you our thoughts on your products.
