The "Gotta Have" unmounted stamps are here!
While attending CHA in Anaheim this January, we saw Tim Holtz was at the Ranger booth doing a demo with Alcohol Inks working his magic with the product and the crowd. Looking to the left was the Stampers Anonymous booth, the company that is the home of The Tim Holtz Collection of rubber stamps. We had to meander over and take a look at the new images. Well, while looking at the new wood mounted stamps in his line (making your mouth salivate), the thing that REALLY got me excited was the introduction of 25 Cling Mount Sets combining all of The Tim Holtz Collection images before this newest CHA release! What? Unmounted?? YES! I couldn't talk to Ted Cutts fast enough about a review opportunity!
The Cling Mount Set stamp images are the same ones as the wood mounted versions in size and detail. The rubber is red and they come already mounted and trimmed on EZ Mount foam. A terrific feature is that the Stampers Anonymous logo and contact information is printed on the side of the foam that clings to the block - great for identification purposes when putting together a supply list for publication. Each set comes in a clear cellophane wrapper with the images on a 7" x 8 1/2" laminated white thick card. The image of the stamp is on the card front, along with the set name and contact information. The side is 3-hole punched for insertion in a small binder if desired. The sets average 3 stamps per card with two sets having 4 images, one set having 2 images and one set having 1 image. The retail price is $19.95 per set and $9.95 for the single image set.
I received 2 sets for review, "I See Paris" and "Fancy Flourish". Both had 3 images in the set. The "I See Paris" set has "Eiffel Sketch", "Carte Postale" and "Postes Francaise" as the images. "Fancy Flourish" has "Baroque", "The Flourish" and the "What You Do" saying is this set. I found all of them to be very versatile and easy to stamp with on practically any surface. The first project is a scrapbook page using mostly the "I See Paris" set. The Eiffel Tower and postage stamp images were stampd in Aged Mahogany on the Razzleberry cardstock for a tone-on-tone look. The large postage cancellation image was used for a background on the beige cardstock and part of the image on the ATC film card. What I loved is that parts of the images can be used to create a background or individual element depending on the look you want for the project. A flourish added some final detailing and beauty.

One of the strong points of unmounted stamps is working with altered items. Since many 3-D items may not have completely flat surfaces or may have corners, an unmounted stamp can conform to those surfaces to make a good impression. This binder cover is one such example of an uneven surface. The whole cover was painted and distressed then stamped with the flourish image providing a classic touch to an otherwise plain surface. The MicaMagic inked baroque image was stamped in Ultra Thick Embossed Enamel (UTEE) to create a great 3-D embellishment. Other emphemera and a mini collaged canvas were added to complement the stamped images. I just love the distressed look to the whole project.

This 12" paper mache' letter was a lot of fun to work with as a project. The whole thing was painted as a good base for the embossing and stamping. The front face of the letter was heat embossed with cappucino powder first then followed by a sparse layer of pink powder. The flourish was stamped with embossing ink on the top and over the edge then embossed in pink. The flexibility of the unmounted rubber allows this type of stamping. No hard mount is used, just the finger and hand pressure to bend the stamp over the edge is needed. The embossed surface is uneven too, so the unmounted stamp conforms to the top to make the impression. The added embossing leaves the detail of the stamp but adds more color and interest to the piece. The flourish was stamped in the upper left twice and over the left edge as shown in the first picture. It was also stamped in the upper right and over the top edge, on the lower part of the "P" and under the edge then along the stem. Unfortunately the picture doesn't do it justice. The tips of the double stamped flourish have rhinestones added for sparkle and the back is covered with felt.

I can't say enough good things about the Tim Holtz Collection Cling Mount Sets from Stampers Anonymous. From the printed index card, to the EZ Mounted images, to the grouping of the stamps in each set - it's ALL there! The unmounted aspect to this collection adds a whole dimension to stamping, literally. Altered artists will just love these along with the general stampers and scrapbookers. I'm looking forward to a local stamp show in June to shop for more sets. Go to the Stampers Anonymous site and order your Cling Mount Sets, you know you want to! Gear up your unmounted stamp makers Ted, you're going to need to increase your factory time! (I think Tim is going to win the bet Ted LOL.)

In my opinion, Tim Holtz plus rubber stamps equals something close to heaven; if not heaven, then near perfection. I have bought several stamps designed by Tim Holtz from Stampers Anonymous in the past, so I jumped at the chance to review new sets of stamps from Tim Holtz’s line. The fact that these stamps now come in cling mounted stamp sets makes them not only more affordable, but also easy to store, and use. I couldn’t wait to get my stamp sets to start using them.
I worked with two stamp sets from the Tim Holtz Collection from Stampers Anonymous for this review. The truth is that receiving any of the stamps from the Tim Holtz Collection would have pleased me immensely. They are all hugely attractive and versatile. I received the Tattered Elements stamp set and the Take Flight stamp set to review. The Take Flight stamp set includes one of my absolute favorite stamps. The Scroll stamp in this set is incredibly easy to use and is beautiful as well. This set also includes the “Listen” quote stamp, and the “Large Crackled Bird” stamp. The Tattered Elements stamp set includes the “Weathered Frame” stamp, “True Friendship” quote stamp, and the “Dotted Plume” stamp. Every one of the stamps in both collections are incredibly detailed, deeply etched, and wonderfully easy to use.
For my first project, I decided to use the scroll stamp from the Take Flight stamp set. As I have stated, this is hands down one of my new favorite stamps. I can see myself using this stamp over and over again. This is stamp is perfect for the current trend of swirls and flourishes. I used the stamp as a photo corner for the photo on my first layout.

For my second layout, I used all three of the stamps in the Take Flight stamp set. As with the “Scroll” stamp, the “Crackled Bird” Stamp is very much in keeping with current trends, as well as being beautiful.

Next, I decided to use the “Weathered Frame” stamp as a frame for a photo. I stamped the frame onto Prism Cardstock, then cut it out and placed it onto my photo. I don’t usually leave so much white space on a layout, but I absolutely love the way that this turned out.

Using these stamps sets is just so addicting. These stamps are sure to be the ones that I will reach for over and over again for quite some time. I couldn’t stop with just three projects. I used the “Dotted Plume” stamp on a layout for my All About Me book, and I added brads to the inside of the dotted circles.

I give these stamps my highest recommendation. Many of the stamps in the Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz Collection are must haves for scrappers, stampers, altered book artists, and any type of papercrafter. Run, don’t walk, to get these stamps!

Stampers Anonymous and Tim Holtz have paired up to bring us some fantastic designs in rubber stamps. The wood mounted stamps have been out for a couple of years. Now, their newest development is ready-to-use unmounted rubber stamps. These red rubber stamps come already mounted on EZ Mount Static Cling Foam sheets, cut out and ready to use. They are affixed to a printed, 3-hole punched index card, ready to be stored in a binder and used whenever the urge strikes. Simply peel the stamp off the index card, mount it on an acrylic stamping block, ink it up and stamp away. It couldn’t be easier. And the stamps designs are gorgeous.

I received two different sets of stamps: Weathered Textiles containing 2 stamps, Distressed Floral and Worn Wallpaper; and Garment District containing 3 stamps, Sometimes, Ornate Paisley and Birds of a Feather. These red rubber stamps are high quality and richly detailed. They are perfect for creating cards and tags, as well as scrapbook elements and pages. They can be used alone or paired up with others to create layered stamped images.
I chose the Weathered Textiles set to create a large tag for this layout. I stamped the first image with distress ink and immediately smudged it with a small piece of Ranger’s Cut n’ Dry foam. I then stamped the second image in a different color and again smudged it right away. Finally I stamped the saying from the Garment District set in Black Soot. I love the aged, distressed look achieved with this technique.

I love the look of the Ranger Distress Ink with Distress Embossing Powder and I knew this Distressed Floral stamp would look fantastic using that technique. I stamped first using Distress Ink Spiced Marmalade and then embossed with Aged Mahogany Distress Embossing Powder. The detail in this stamp makes this an amazing card front!

Anxious to try out these stamps with another technique, I used the Distressed Floral stamp to stamp an image on acetate using StazOn black ink. I then colored the reverse side of the acetate with Ranger Alcohol Inks. Once again, this stamp is perfect for achieving this distressed look on a different medium, giving the image a totally different appearance. The card front is made from a shimmery paper colored with the same alcohol inks, giving it a marbled appearance.

Tim Holtz has lent his design skills to the development of a gorgeous line of rubber stamps, both mounted and unmounted. Stampers Anonymous has taken it one step further and prepared the unmounted stamps so that they are ready to use. Already mounted on EZ Mount Static Cling Foam sheets and presented on index cards, these stamps are ready to be stored in your 3-ring binder. The index cards are not standard 3-ring binder size, so you will have to purchase a smaller, 7" x 9" binder if you wish to store your stamps that way. The one additional thing I would like to see is the name of the actual stamps also imprinted on the index card. When preparing my supply lists, I like to list the actual stamp and this extra step would make that easier for me. If you’re looking for some gorgeous stamps with a distressed look, I definitely recommend that you check out the Tim Holtz line of stamps at Stampers Anonymous. And bring your check book – you’ll definitely want more than one!
Review by Rebecca
Tim Holtz is a familiar name in the scrapbooking, rubber stamping and mixed media art industries. He has inks, books, DVDs, embossing powders, stamps and now a storage line and 16 new stamp images. So when I heard I would be reviewing some new unmounted stamps, I was excited and looking forward to the wonderful products that Tim Holtz has designed for the industry.
I am familiar with the wood mounted rubber stamps that have been part of the Tim Holtz Collections. However, what I received for my review were two pages of cling mounted rubber stamps. The sets that arrived in my mailbox were "From The Heart" and "Paisley Prints". Enclosed in a sealed plastic bag was 3-hole punched, hard plastic sheet that measures 7" x 8.5". One side of the plastic page is printed with the stamped images, the names of the set and the contact information for Stampers Anonymous. The stamp set is "clinging" on the other side of the sheet and ready to be used.
Right away I noticed a few things about the stamp sets that set it apart from others I have used. First, the stamps arrived on a sheet that they can be stored on with holes punched in it so it is ready to go in a binder. I think every artist knows the importance of having supplies organized and I appreciate that Stampers Anonymous took this into consideration when they packaged the stamps. Secondly, I feel that cling mounted stamp sets are a perfect compromise for me. I like the detail that the rubber stamps have over acrylic stamps. I also like that the stamps are already mounted onto foam so I do not have to do any of that cutting and preparation which was the advantage that acrylics always had over unmounted rubber stamps. I like that I can use these stamps with my clear acrylic blocks which makes it easier to stamp and place the images than using wood mounted. So even before using the stamps I was already very pleased with them.
For my first project I used the Paisley Prints set and used the 5" x 4" paisley background embossed in black as a background for my photo printed on canvas. There is great detail on this stamp and I prefer the "distressed" look of the stamp with lines that weren't completely solid in some areas. I also used the 3" x 1.5" quote stamp that reads, "LIFE ISN'T ABOUT FINDING YOURSELF LIFE IS ABOUT CREATING YOURSELF." I liked the uppercase font of this stamp that is easy to read. There is also a 3" x 2" paisley stamp that I did not use on this project, but it also has the same distressed look with intricate detailed decorated edges.

The Tim Holtz Collection by Stampers Anonymous stamp sets provide many images that can be used for so many various projects. Paisley has become big in the scrapbooking industry but Tim Holtz puts his "distressed" spin on it and it becomes a uniquely artistic product. These stamp sets retail for $19.95 and considering the easy storage, great detail and wonderful images this is definitely a great price for quality stamp sets. Kudos to Stampers Anonymous and Tim Holtz for giving scrappers like myself, new stamps that they must have!
Review by Penny
I was sent two "just released" stamp sets from Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz Collection for this review, Nature's Moments and Creative Textures. Each set contains foam-mounted red rubber stamps which cling to a sturdy white plastic sheet. The sheets are three-hole punched for easy storage in a binder. A picture of each stamp is also shown.
Nature's Moments (Item #CMS001, Retail $19.95) includes a dandelion grouping, a dried flower grouping, a bird taking flight, and a verse. On this layout I used several markers in different shades of yellow on the dandelion stamp, stamping the image several times to form a large grouping. I also used the bird in flight and the verse which says: "Live in the moment and make it so beautiful that it will be worth remembering."

Other: ribbon, flowers, mirror rosette, crystal
On my second layout I used the dandelion stamp again to create a very subtle watermark effect behind my journaling. The bird in flight is so gorgeously shaded that I didn't even need to color it.

Creative Textures (Item #CMS004, Retail $19.95) includes three large stamps perfect for creating unique backgrounds. It includes a diamond pattern, a swirl pattern, and a line grouping referred to as "scratches".
For my third project I used the swirl pattern stamp and purple craft ink to create my background. On the upper right-hand corner I stamped a portion of the line grouping to anchor my corner and below the photo to add some visual interest. This stamp in particular can be used in so many ways, I can see it being used over and over again on my future projects.

I have a pretty large stamp collection. Many of my stamps were used a few times, but quickly lost their appeal. Some of them, I'm sad to say, have never been used at all. Having the opportunity to review Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz Collection stamps has reignited my love affair with stamps. These would be a versatile, high-quality addition to your stamp collection, and one that will not go unused.
