Sarah Tyler

I call myself an “avid scrapbooker,” but I think my husband would say “addicted scrapbooker” is more to the point. I began scrapbooking in January of 2000. I had a slow start, but gradually I began to see how much I enjoyed this unique combination of preexisting interests – interests such as design, art, family, memories, history, writing/storytelling and photography. Scrapbooking has become both my creative outlet and my heritage to my family. And not just to my children: I’ve used scrapbooking projects to help build my marriage and friendships; and scrapbooking has opened some very interesting opportunities of communication to the elder generations of my and my husband’s families, whether by scrapping my pictures for them, or scrapping their pictures for myself and the family!

I’m a 24-year-old stay-at-home-mom to two little boys: Caspian, who turns 2 in November, and Zephan, who joined our family in August of 2005. My husband, Aaron, and I celebrate our fifth wedding anniversary in October, 2005. Besides scrapbooking, I enjoy nature and the outdoors, home decorating, music performance and appreciation, and reading (classics, mostly – like Jane Austen). And I’m always up for learning about or how to do something new!

Formerly, I conceptualized and taught “Hands-On-History,” a class discussing creative and unusual ways to teach history to students of all ages, at conventions in Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin and Tennessee. Additionally, for 4 ½ years I owned and operated The Costume Closet, an online-based business offering custom-sewn historical costumes. I designed and made the historically-accurate medieval costumes worn by the employees of Rerunbooks (a bookstore which portrayed a medieval theme in their store/web site), and my American costumes boast a variety of callings across the nation, from Massachusetts to California, in school plays, re-enactment events, hands-on museum displays, and costume contests.
