I enjoy using slide mounts in my scrapping, especially in altered projects. When I received the products from Loersch, I was thrilled to see Circle Slide Mounts in beautiful fall colors! I immediately started to think of circles and how popular they currently are in many of the layouts featured in magazines.

The Circle Slide Mounts are 2 inches in diameter with a 1 1/4 inch circular opening in the center. The slides are colored plastic with a light texture on one side and a smooth texture on the other side. The package that I received was a Fall Festival mixture of 6 colors: dark green, dark red, iodine, pumpkin, java and brown. There were 66 slides packed in a rectangular plastic case where the lid comes off and can nest under the case for storage. The slides are available in all 72 colors that Loersch offers throughout their product lines.

The first project that I used the Circle Slide Mounts in was a mini Disney vacation album. The slides were the perfect size for the 6" x 6" album, making great embellishments to highlight the date of the trip and places that were visited. The colors were perfectly matched to the Disney colors and applying them with adhesive was easy.

Adhesive (Adhesive Tech, Permanent Glue Runner, A Fine Line...)

Another mini book project called out to use the Circle Slide Mounts. It is a circle journal entry that I am using fish as a theme. The circles were just perfect to act as bubbles from the fish while providing information for the topic of "Life's Lessons". Again, the colors matched wonderfully to the theme and papers used for this project.

The Circle Slide Mounts were a joy to use and I can definitely see my collection of colors expanding soon! I can envision even more uses for the slide mounts now that I have used them in two layouts: stamping on them, covering them with clay and even embossing them to change the color. I can't wait to try it! Loersch's Circle Slide Mounts are a wonderful low-profile embellishment that can add pizzazz to any page!

Circles have been cropping up in scrapbook pages online and in magazines in recent months. Loersch, a leading name in production of plastic slide mounts, has stepped up to offer circle slide mounts in all 72 Loersch colors. Circle mounts can provide an attractive contrast against the squares and rectangles of traditionally formatted layouts, or complement the trendy new circular patterns and pages. These unorthodox mounts provide fresh new options for scrapbookers on the lookout for lightweight, archival, fun embellishments.

Loersch’s Circle Slide Mounts, measuring 2” in diameter, are more generously sized than washers or bottlecaps. The 1-1/4” inner diameter is a great size for showcasing all sorts of embellishments, from letter stickers and stamps to silk flowers. The rim of the frame leaves room for embellishment and customization with stickers, rub-ons, paint or fibers. And like traditional rectangular mounts, the Circle Slide Mounts can be used to frame smaller photographs as well. Due to their design and light weight, they are much easier to adhere than similarly sized metal frames, working well with everything from pop dots to A Fine Line glues to my favorite adhesive, the glue runner.

Letter stickers by Scenic Route Co.
Monogram Letters by Basic Grey (Motifica)
Grosgrain Ribbon by Really Reasonable Ribbon

Also: brads, eyelets

Circle Slide Mounts are available in all 72 Loersch colors, and are sold in coordinating color groupings to make designing with them a snap. The Loersch website provides a color chart that you can use to find your favorite shades. Their homepage also includes a host of information and ideas for how to use various Loersch offerings, as well as a design gallery with project examples and inspiration.

I really enjoyed using Loersch’s new Circle Slide Mounts on my scrapbooking layouts. The color sets made coordinating page elements a breeze, and they are all sorts of fun to embellish…or not! These are a fun and easy to use, and they can add a lot of interest to the page with little effort. Recommended.

Loersch has come up with an interesting concept: circular slide mounts for use in scrapbooking. I briefly went through a phase in my scrapbooking where I used a traditional slide mount on just about every page I made. I had not seen these Circular Slide Mounts, so when I heard we would be reviewing them, I was very interested. With more and more of the scrapbook world becoming circular, the release of these circular mounts is perfect.

The set of slide mounts that I received was in a great little plastic box with a removable lid. I was sent the Metals Circle Slide Mounts with copper, a shiny cream color, gold, silver, pearl, and platinum. There are 66 slide mounts included in the box. The colors in this set are beautiful, very stylish, and classic. The slide mounts are approximately 2 inches in diameter, with an opening that measures 1 ¼” in diameter. These slide mounts are perfect for highlighting small photographs or areas in a photograph that one would like to draw attention to.

I decided first to make a small keychain scrapbook with several of the circle mounts. I drilled a hole in the top of each slide mount, then created miniature scrapbook pages to encase between two mounts. I also used transparencies over the miniature pages to protect the photographs. I couldn’t get a really good picture of the outcome, but I really love this fun way to showcase several of my favorite photographs. I finished the project by stamping on the mounts with solvent ink.

I then decided to use the slide mounts on a scrapbook page, in a more traditional way. I used three of the pearl metallic circle mounts to highlight parts of a transparency that I had.

I have enjoyed working with the Circle Slide Mounts from Loersch. I think they are a wonderful way to draw attention to parts of a layout that a person would like to highlight. If you are a scrapper that likes the look of slide mounts on your pages, I recommend Loersch Circle Slide Mounts for a different look!

Loersch Circle Slide Mounts

Loersch, a company that has for a long time been producing quality slide mounts for professional photographers, now offers a number of products with the scrapbooker in mind. A variety of sizes, shapes and colors are included in their comprehensive slide mount line.

I received the Primary set of Circle Slide Mounts in a storage box. Each mount is actually a thin plastic circle frame, measuring 2" diameter on the outside and 1.25" across the center. It is acid-free, light weight and so much fun. They may seem simple but they are so versatile. You can stamp on them, distress them, apply rub-ons and so much more. See a few examples. (Upper left, clockwise):

1) Distressed. The right side is sanded and the left side is scratched with a craft knife for interesting textures.

2) Rub-ons applied perfectly and ribbon tied on for fun.

3) Metallic rub-ons applied, creating a shimmery effect.

4) Stamped using Brown StazOn. It stamped perfectly even with a delicate text image.

I created a page of Hannah’s adventure seeing Dora the Explorer Live! As you can see in the image, I stamped on two of the mounts. I read on their website that using StazOn ink was important. I did and I loved the result. Another small hint: No caffeine before stamping as they tend to be a bit slippery and a shaky hand can prove to be a huge bummer.

Dora Live!
Supplies:
Primary Circle Slide Mounts (Loersch)
Prismatics Intense Orange, Intense Yellow, Intense Pink and Exclusive Papers Verde Pisello cardstocks (Prism)
Green Flower paper (Plaid)
Green Dots paper (Making Memories)
Letter stamps (EK Success)
Jet Black StazOn (Tsukineko)
Orange brad (The Paper Studio)
SAMBA! and Mandingo fonts
Permanent Glue Runner (Adhesive Tech)
Other: Sewing Machine, green thread and organza ribbons

Conclusions: I want them all, every last color. Seriously, I am starting a personal wish list and periodically I will order more of these. The shape is so much fun and so versatile. The thin and light weight properties, make them perfect for cards that will be mailed or altered books with a certain spine depth. I like that you can stamp on them, paint them, journal on them and so much more. Absolutely recommended.

Loersch Circle Slide Mounts

For the month of October I was chosen to review a variety of Loersch frames. I opened my box to find a set of adorable circle Slide Mounts. The .07mm thick plastic frames measure 2 inches in diameter with a 1 ¼ inch opening. These frames were introduced at the 2005 CHA summer show, meet strict archival standards, and are available in 72 colors. I received the pastel colors which included pastel yellow, pastel violet, pastel pink, pastel peach, pastel green and pastel blue. A total of 66 frames came packaged in a red flat craft box, which can also be purchased separately.

I have used square frames like this before but never circles. I love designing with circles so this was an unexpected treat. As you can see in my “sisters” layout the slides work great when adding rub on letters and used to highlight specific aspects of a page.

Materials used:
Loersch Circle Frames in pastel yellow
Cardstock: Prism Prismatics (Frosted Yellow)
Pattern Paper, Vellum and Velvet Ribbon: Flair Designs Inc.
Rub on letters: Doodlebug Designs
Flower Brad and Heart Plaque: Making Memories
Adhesive: Adhesive Tech Permanent Glue Runner

As the Loersch website mentions, one of the great things about this type of frame is that it is an embellishment that can be embellished!! For my flower thank you card I covered the frame with orange seed beads and used it to make a shaker frame in the center of a flower.

Materials used:
Loersch Circle Frames in pastel yellow
Cardstock: Prism Prismatics (Black, Intense Yellow, Intense Orange)
Pattern Paper: Basic Grey
Beads: Magic Scraps
Flower Template: Deluxe Designs (Pages by Design Finishing Touches)
Stamps: River City Rubber Works
Ink: Ranger (Black Soot Distress Ink)
Corner rounder: EK Success
Adhesive: Adhesive Tech (Permanent Glue Runner, A Fine Line...Bead, Glass, etc. and 3-D Design Blocks)

These frames could be used for a variety of items such as candy, balloons, flower centers, tree tops and much more. They can be combined with larger frames as well! For an example of this you can see my other review featuring the large format frames. In that review you will have a chance to see how the two frames can be used together as well as being distressed and embellished with rub-on transfers!

I highly enjoyed using these frames and would gladly recommend them for a fun, easy and versatile accent for any project.
