Making a Stamped Clay Embellishment
by Peggy Tyler

Start by gathering your supplies:

You will need some polymer clay, a rubber or acrylic stamp, ink pad and rolling pin. If you want the finished piece to be glossy you will also need a paint-on finish such as "Glossy Accents" by Ranger.

Shape your clay into a ball and flatten it with the rolling pin, making certain that it remains the same thickness throughout.

Ink your stamp being careful only to get ink on the raised part of the stamp. Do not press the stamp into the pad as this will ink the depressions of the stamp and "dirty" the impression in the clay.

Stamp the clay putting steady and firm pressure on the stamp so that it makes a deep depression in the clay without "bottoming out." If you press too hard the perimeter of the stamp block will appear in the clay.

Bake clay at 275* for 20 minutes.

Cool and if desired coat with varnish or clear finger nail polish.

Use as desired on scrapbook page or other project. I chose to use mine on a journal cover.
