Creating a Flower Using a Scalloped Circle Punch
by Penny Brellenthin

This tutorial demonstrates how to create a three dimensional flower using a scalloped circle punch.

All you need is a punch and patterned papers for this project.

Your first step is to punch out the circle.

Next fold your punched circle in half.

Unfold and refold in half in the other direction.

As you will notice on my punched circle, one crease is directly between two scallops and the other is in the middle of one scallop. Place the circle on your work surface so that the one scallop with the fold in the middle is at the bottom, then fold each side in. Be careful not to fold beyond the creases, and leave the one scallop at the bottom unfolded.

Here is what the back looks like.

Fold in half at the center crease so that the flaps are tucked inside.

Fold each flap back out toward your center crease, with your smaller flap becoming the top fold.

Open up your folded piece at the center crease.

Your finished flower should look like this.

And here are several examples.

Note: This technique will work with a plain circle punch for a different look. It looks great with vellum or glittery papers too!
