How to Submit an Article to ScrapFriends

One of our most important goals as an educational website is to help our fellow scrapbookers learn and acquire new skills to use in their albums. We encourage you to share your knowledge with your friends here at ScrapFriends through the submission of a How-to Article.
Examples of articles that will be considered for publishing are techniques, how to create altered objects, how to create specific TYPEs of layouts, how to use specific types of products, etc. Our members range from beginning skills to advanced, so any level of expertise is welcomed. What is obvious to you may be just the "AH-HA!" moment that someone else has needed, so don't dismiss your skills!
While we are unable at this time to compensate for articles, we do make sure that your efforts are noticed. All accepted articles are featured prominently on our homepage with a photo and link for a day. Its your chance to see your name on the homepage too! Authors published on the ScrapFriends website also receive a gallery link on the bottom of their article, a public thank you in our forum, and an announcement (with your name) in our weekly newsletter.
Here is how to submit your ideas:
- 1. First, check out our
Alphabetical Archive listing to be sure that the article you want
to write hasn't already been submitted. We will, from time to time, accept
second (or even third) articles on the same topic as long as they are
presented differently.
- 2. Once you have decided upon your topic, gather the needed supplies
and take a photo of them.
- 3. Next, create your project using the technique(s) you want to share.
Take photos as you move on to each step to clearly show us how to duplicate
your technique.
- 4. Resize your photos to 300 pixels on the largest edge. This is to
assure quick loading of the page. Photos should be saved as jpg or gif.
- 5. Write step-by-step instructions on how to make your project. The
text should begin with the needed supplies and end with the finished project.
Each step should correspond with your photos.
- 6. After writing your instructions, go back through your text and clearly
indicate where each photo should be inserted. Be sure that you include
a photo of the completed project/technique at the end.
- 7. Submit the photos and instructions to admin@scrapfriends.us Articles should be sent in plain text emails only please, no PDF document attachments. Attach the photos to the email.
Thank you for your part in making ScrapFriends a great place to learn and get inspired!
