Go Vertical-How to Organize Your Scrapping Supplies Unconventionally

As you probably know, scrapbookers have many different supplies and are always getting more. One difficult task that I have found is finding a place for all our items, in a two-person scrapbooking home. What compounds our problem is the fact that we live in a very small home so finding extra space is a chore.
We have come up with three different ways to store and organize some of our supplies.
The first is an over-the-door plastic shoe holder. This is on the inside of our closet door so it is hidden as well. We store some of our embossing powders, glitters, books of quote stacks, and other small items that fit nicely in the compartments. (Not to mention you could always put some shoes in if you need to.)
The next item was my wife’s idea. For the holidays several years ago, she asked for a pegboard to be one of her gifts. Very inexpensive at Home Depot, I bought her a 3 ft. by 4 ft pegboard along with a few packages of pegs, which she attached to the back wall of our closet and voila - a place to hang all those packages of embellishments that already have the hole there because this is how they are kept in the store.
The third and final unusual storage idea is a little harder to find. My wife found these on the curb by the library- library card catalogs. When she went in to find out why, she was told that due to the new computer system, they were getting rid of the card catalogs. Originally she used it in her classroom, but when she left her teaching position, she knew it would be a great holder for scrapping supplies. The drawers are labeled with categories, such as scissors, stamps, fibers, paints, etc.
Now, you never know what you may find- just keep your eyes open. You may want to check out your library and see if by chance they have any old ones in storage that you could have. Also you never know what similar items you could pick up at garage sales or www.freecycle.com is a site where people in your local area are giving away items they do not need.
One of the keys to scrapbooking is being able to find your supplies. Hopefully these hints could help you out.
