Double Distress technique

With the release of Distress Inks and now Distress Embossing Powders, there are some color combinations that can really make your projects POP!

Please refer to Kathleen's Distress Embossing Powder article for more specific details on how to use the products.

Here's a list of Distress Ink color/Distress Embossing Powder colors for a terrific "Double Distress" effect. Stamp the image or area with the Distress Ink listed first then emboss with the coordinating Distress Powder color. The ink that was first stamped will show through as the powder is rubbed for the release crystals to do their job!

Antique Linen/Tattered Rose
Old Paper/Milled Lavender
Tea Dye/Mustard Seed
Vintage Photo/Peeled Paint
Walnut Stain/Weathered Wood
Black Soot/Fired Brick

Look at the picture below to get a visual idea of this technique. For each of the six boxes, the top color is clear ink with the colored Distress Embossing Powder from the list over it. The bottom color is the colored ink from the list with the colored Distress Embossing Powder over it. For instance, the first one is clear ink with Tattered Rose Distress Embossing Powder then right below is Antique Linen Distress Ink with Tattered Rose Distress Embossing Powder over it. It tones down the rose color and looks more worn. Seeing the comparison is really interesting, especially when you get to the last three isn't it?

Enjoy Double Distressing!
