Distressing Tags with Ink

This is a technique I learned from the Page Sage DVD, "An Altered Journey with Tim Holtz." I found it to be fun and hope you will too. You will need to gather
- Cardstock
- Tim Holtz Distressing Inks from Ranger
- A water spritzing bottle
- An iron
- A paper cutter and scissors
- A heat-proof, ironing surface

First cut your tags out of cardstock. You may trace an office tag or freehand it. They are pretty easy to create.

Press the middle inside one of the tags to "break" it. This will help to prevent tearing when you crumble it.

Crumple your tags into balls.

Uncrumple the tags and rub the Distressing Ink all over them. You will want to be sure to use the "Distress" inks for this technique. They are formulated to flow across the paper with the water and still keep their tonal values.

Hold the tag flat in the palm of your hand and spritz it three to four times with water. Place the tag on a heat-proof surface.

Lightly iron the tag, both to smooth out some of the wrinkles and to dry the water quickly.

While you have the iron heated up, why not make several tags to use later?

You can add embellishments to dress up your tags however you wish.

Be sure to share with us in the gallery what you've done with distressed tags!
