Using Acrylic Paint Techniques in Your Scrapbooks
Week 2, Add Paint to change your embellishments
by Catherine Sebree

Week 2:

Welcome to Week Two of Using Acrylic Paint Techniques in Your Scrapbooks. During this second week of class, we will be using our acrylic paints to alter or enhance embellishments and products we may already have on hand. This is a great way to use up that stash of supplies that you haven’t found a use for because of their color or lack thereof.

This week you will need a sanding block in addition to your acrylic paint and paint brush.

Your assignments for Week Two are as follows:

Part 1:

1. Read Cathy Leffler’s article Using Acrylic Paint to give a Snow Effect.
2. Create a set of embellishments that are altered or enhanced by using paint. (Doesn’t have to be a snowy look, think of your own design!)
3. Use the embellishments you created on a layout and upload to the gallery.

Part 2:

4. Read Janell’s article Designing the Perfect Brad on a Budget
5. Use acrylic paint to alter the look of metal embellishments (not just for brads) for your layouts.
6. Use the altered metal embellishments you have created on a layout and post it in the gallery.

Part 3:

7. Read Odette’s article Altering chipboard letters and shapes. Pay special attention to the section on using Acrylic paint.
8. Create chipboard embellishments or title letters.
9. Use those chipboard embellishments or title letters on a layout and post to the gallery..

Check out these layouts from our gallery for inspiration:
