Create a Simple Bookmark

Using just scraps of paper, some stamps or some stickers, you can easily and quickly create stunning bookmarks to keep or give as gifts.

For this project you will need:

Cut your scrap paper into a strip 5 inches long and 1 1/2 inches wide. Mark the center of the long side of the strip. Score a line from that mark to the opposite side at a 45 degrees angle. Repeat on the other side of the center mark.

Fold the paper on those scored lines, creating a triangular shaped pocket. Cover the back side with a coordinating piece of paper, which will secure the long "legs" of the pocket. You now have a pocket bookmark which you can decorate as you wish.

You can mix this up by using two sided patterned cardstock for the bookmark. Decorate it with stickers, stamped images, monograms, whatever you wish. You can also adjust the size of the initial paper to create larger or smaller bookmarks. This handy bookmark is flat so it will not distort your book while it’s marking your page.
