Altered Canvas Accordion Album
by Kathleen Taylor

11/13/2006

Supplies needed:
Canvas Concepts 6x6 canvas
2 sheets of 12x12 cardstock
Wide Ribbon 24 inches long
Acrylic Paint
Paint Brush
Two 5 ½”x5 ½” chipboard (any thickness)
Liquid Glue (I recommend Zip Dry paper glue by Beacon Adhesives)
Paper Trimmer

1. Paint the front and back of the canvas. Set aside to dry.

2. Cut the 2 sheets of cardstock to 5½"x11" (you will get 4 pieces that are 5 1/2"x11")

3. Score the 4 cut sheets in half at 5½" to make 2 squares that are 5½"x5½"

4. After you have scored all the sheets in half, take 2 of the scored sheets and put them on a table end to end. Overlap the 2 ends so that it makes 3 squares. Glue the 2 overlapping squares together.

5. Repeat Step #4 with the other 2 sheets so all four sheets are glued to each other and make one long sheet that is 5½" x 26½".

6. Fold all glued squares like an accordion. Set aside.

7. Paint or ink edges of the two 5½"x5½" pieces of chipboard. Set aside.

8. Cut ribbon in half.

9. Take the 2 pieces of chipboard and lay them face down. Take the 2 pieces of ribbon and lay one over each chipboard so ribbon is hanging equally over both sides of the chipboard. Glue ribbon to chipboard with a strong adhesive. Let dry.

10. Lay the canvases face down. Take the chipboard with ribbon and generously put adhesive on the side with ribbon already glued on it. Adhere the chipboard to the back of each canvas. Let dry.

11. Decorate pages in album, both front and back. On the front and back of pages leave the last square on the right blank. These will be adhered to the canvases so you will not see those sides.

12. Decorate the front and back canvases.

13. After you have made the pages of your album, fold them back into the accordion. When looking at the folded pages there should be a blank page on the front and back of the folded accordion.

14. Lay front cover canvas face down. Glue front blank page of the accordion to the chipboard on the canvas. Then glue back cover canvas to the back page of the accordion. Let dry.

15. Tie ribbons together and you are done.
