Flip Flop Album

1. Remove strap from both flip flops.

2. Color one strap with alcohol inks (I did not use the other, so that the album could sit flat). For this project, I used wild plum, stream and butterscotch with an accent of Pearl Metal Mixatives. Set aside the colored strap.

3. Using one flip flop, create a template on scrap cardstock or stiff file folder material. 4. From your choice of cardstock, cut pieces to cover the top and bottom of each shoe (remember to flip the pattern over for two of them if your cardstock is textured or has a pattern). On the piece that will be the front cover, mark and cut the 3 holes for the strap.

5. Embellish the front of your album as desired, making sure to keep the 3 holes open (re-punch if needed). Adhere to top of flip flop.

6. Re-attach strap by pushing the ends through the holes made in the cover.

8. Use the template created in step 2 to make accordion fold pages for the inside of the album. Measure the height of the template and the width at the widest point, and accordion fold cardstock. Trace the template onto the section of the accordion folded paper, making sure to keep part of the fold on each edge. From a piece of 12x12 cardstock, I was able to get 3 folds (which equals 3 pages). I made two 3-folded sections and overlapped them, cutting off one last section and ended up with a 4 page book. You can make as many inside pages as you wish. I covered the first page and the last page with the cardstock pieces cut in step 3 – because the folded edges of the inside pages were not the full shape of the flip-flop.

9. Decorate your inside pages as desired.

10. Cover the outside of the back of the book with one of the pieces cut in step 3 above. Adhere the first and last pages to the insides of the flip flops.

11. Tie ribbon on strap if desired. Trim edges of flip flops with ribbon if desired.

And there you go….an altered shoe mini-album.
