Chalking Up Die Cuts
by Stephanie Ackerman

Need a quick and easy way to customize die cuts to match your projects? Look no further than the soft touch of chalk. You will need some die cut(s) of choice, cardstock or pattern paper, vellum and chalk.

Once I die cut the pig, I wanted to add some shading and dimension. Since a pig’s snout is usually darker than it’s body, I added quite a bit of chalk there. I then added a little lighter chalking around it’s body and ears. The great thing about chalk is that it is forgiving. If it’s too dark, you can erase it. If it’s too light, you can add more color.

Once my pig was done, I assembled my invitation. I printed the information on vellum and then lightly inked the edges of the vellum with the same color chalk.
