Adhesive Tech makes some really unique adhesive products for us as crafters, and their Cordless Glue Gun is no exception to that unique product line-up. The thing I liked the best about the Adhesive Tech Cordless Glue Gun was the two-temp capability. It can be set as a low-temp gun or a high-temp gun. This gives the ability to use it for things such as wax sticks and also for low-temp, high-temp and multi-temp glues. I've used glue guns a lot over the years and the different types of glues have their own purposes. Its nice to have one gun that will handle any kind.

Another thing I liked was the long cord. So many of the small appliances these days come with dinky little cords. This one is about eight feet long! Its wonderful for plugging in and still reaching to the desk with room to maneuver.

The instruction manual explained that the heat will hold for about five minutes once you unplug the gun. While I would imagine this could be true of most any glue gun, and I had expected there to maybe be a battery source of heat with the "cordless" label on it, still it is handy to detach the plug (something you can't do with any other glue gun) and move across the room to do a touch up on something that needs some hot glue. Not having to drag along that cord is pretty handy.

I used this glue gun primarily for wax sticks. It did a great job with them. I'll sure keep it handy for the next time I need hot glue.

Adhesive Tech Cordless Glue Gun: Two Glue Guns in One

The Adhesive Tech Cordless Glue Gun is a fully functional glue gun with a couple of extra goodies: an 8’ long cord which may be disconnected from the base of the glue gun; and dual temperature settings of high-temp (380 F), and low-temp (260 F).

I was totally psyched when I found out that we had a "cordless glue gun" on our review schedule. Sadly, I was to be disappointed. While this glue gun is called a "cordless" glue gun, the reality of this term appears to be more of a marketing title and less of an actual function of the glue gun. “Cordless” in this case means that the cord may be disconnected from the base of the glue gun -- once the glue gun is hot. The glue gun then has a maximum of 5 minutes of useful gluing time before the glue cools too much to squeeze out of the gun. I expected to see a glue gun heated on some kind of battery power, or at least one that could be plugged in to heat up and then use battery power to maintain heat. This glue gun heats on its cord and does not offer an alternate source of power for melting the glue or maintaining the heat: the Adhesive Tech Cordless Glue Gun must be plugged in, and then may be disconnected for a few minutes before being plugged in again to melt the glue. This may be a handy option in some cases, but I really did not find it very useful since it does not stay hot very long, and I was rather unimpressed with the title of “cordless” glue gun for something that merely has the option of being unplugged for a few minutes.

I was more impressed with the fact that the cord, which is the only option of accessing power for the glue gun, is 8 feet long. Now THAT is handy. This cord was long enough to reach around a stack of storage containers and plug in behind my desk, and still allowed for easy use on the table. I thought this was great because I did not have to dig a special path all the way to the outlet for one of those annoying short cords. I never had problems with the glue gun falling off the table due to shortness of cord, and I never felt that insane urge to wildly yank the entire glue gun and cord set from the wall, as I have experienced with some glue guns that have ridiculously short cords.

My favorite feature of the "Cordless" Glue Gun though is it dual-temperature options. This is fantastic because with the flick of a switch on a single glue gun, you may choose whether you want high heat for extra hold, or low heat for less melting/less burns. The switch area is clearly marked with the temperature settings so you always know at which setting the glue gun is functioning. It’s like getting two glue guns in one. Adhesive Tech Cordless Glue Gun is priced higher than Adhesive Tech’s regular glue gun which has only one temperature setting. I really liked having the option of both temperature settings so I feel that the higher price tag, which is still completely reasonable, is worth it.

Other wonderful features of the "Cordless" Glue Gun are the thorough, user-manual-like owner instructions. These instructions make it absolutely clear how the temperature settings work, suggest the proper settings for different types of materials, and explain use of the detachable cord feature. Thumbs up on these directions!

I was pleased to discover that the "Cordless" Glue Gun drips no glue at the low-temp setting, and dripping is minimal at the high-temp setting. Hurray – no globs of glue all over the place from an overzealous melter in the glue gun! The trigger of the glue gun also works smoothly and is not inclined to produce hand cramps.

I would also like to comment that Adhesive Tech Standard Multi-Temp glue sticks are very high quality. They are less stringy than other glue sticks I have used and bond well with a variety of media, even at different temperature settings.

Below you will see an altered CD I made using the Adhesive Tech Cordless Glue Gun loaded with Adhesive Tech Standard Multi-Temp glue sticks. My supply list includes the CD, wool fabric, glass marbles, silk ivy, wire, thin picot ribbon, wide organza ribbon, fibers, and vellum paper. The stamping was made using Leave Memories Spring Garden Font and Jacquard Pearl Ex Stamp Pads : Metallic Color Gold. I was pleased with the performance of the glue gun and glue sticks on such a variety of supplies. The title on this project is “Welcome Hobbits” – it was a gift for my sister who is, and this is an understatement, a Tolkien fan.

In Summary: Adhesive Tech Cordless Glue Gun, while not very useful in its "cordless" feature, makes up for it with the other high-quality goodies including an 8’ cord, dual temperature settings, minimal leaking, and overall performance. The two temperature settings make it like having two glue guns in one – recommended.

WOWEE!! That was the first word I uttered when I saw this glue gun. I was thrilled that we were getting to review this product. This glue gun has two temperatures. It comes with a stand and a removeable cord. It also has a power-on light.

My favorite feature of this glue gun is the power-on light. I have a 4 year old daughter who is quite curious about Mommy’s craft supplies. This light helps me to know whether the glue gun is on or not. I am one of those people who sometimes forget to turn off the oven and unplug the glue gun. This wonderful safety feature allows me the peace of mind of knowing whether I have unplugged the glue gun or not. Also it helped me to be able to teach my daughter that if the light was on you don’t touch the glue gun. I love this feature.

The second feature I love is the removeable cord. WOW, this is just amazing. I used this glue gun to help us put up some ric-rac border in a Sunday School classroom we were redecorating. We plugged the hot glue gun in and let it warm up and then unplugged it and used it without having to trip over the cord every time you went to take a step. It made our job so much faster and easier. We also used it to put some flowers on a wreath we included in the room. My friends were so impressed that they ran out and bought one for each of them. I also used this glue gun to make some wax seals for some cards I was making. It worked just wonderful with the wax sticks also.

The third feature that I love is the two temperature option. The high temperature is for attaching items to wood, metal, and ceramics. The high temperature is for things that you find that you might have trouble adhering things. The low temperature is for fabric, lace, crafts and other things. Now don’t think that by low heat you won’t burn yourself if you get on your fingers. The glue WILL BURN at both level of temperatures.

A couple of suggestions when using this glue gun as in using any other glue gun, put something underneath it because it does drip. I just put my non-stick pad underneath it while it is warming up and it becomes very easy to clean up. There are some strings with this glue gun as with any glue gun. These are just normal things we deal with when using any glue gun.

The Adhesive Tech:Two Temperature Cordless Glue Gun is a glue gun with a dual temperature setting and a removable cord. The Adhesive Tech Two Temperature Cordless Glue Gun comes with minimal instructions. The gun must be plugged into a power source, a glue stick inserted and the user must wait about 3-5 minutes to be able to use the melted glue. The dual temperature setting and the cordless option are extra features not covered in the instructions. My expectations for a glue gun is that it heat safely, evenly and dispense the correct amount of glue when pumped. The Adhesive Tech: Two Temperature Cordless Glue Gun works great as a basic glue gun. It was unclear how the extra features were necessary.

At first glance, from the packaging and name, I thought the Adhesive Tech Two Temperature Cordless Glue Gun was both a plug in and a battery operated glue gun. I was not sure if the batteries had to be inserted, if there was a rechargable battery inside or how I would turn the Glue Gun on and off in the battery option. A glue gun with a rechargeable battery inside would be awesome. This glue gun is not a battery optioned gun. The cord simply comes off for convenience but when the Adhesive Tech Two Temperature Glue Gun is unplugged, the power goes off. Again, more directions would have been helpful. I am not sure why this option is necessary, a regular corded glue gun can be unplugged and used in the same way.

The dual temperature setting is also confusing. There are no instructions for using the high and lower temperatures. I own a cool temperature glue gun, and perhaps the lower setting can be used with the lower temperature glue sticks. This needs to be explained in the instructions. Without clarification, the dual setting seems unnecessary.

Does this Adhesive Tech Two Temperature Cordless Glue Gun work? Yes, it does. It heats quickly, dispensed glue evenly and does not leak glue all over the counter. My previous glue gun leaked as it sat on the table creating a mess. The Adhesive Tech Two Temperature Cordless Glue Gun comes with a metal stand that holds the glue gun upright and ready to use. As a regular glue gun, I love it.

I used the Adhesive Tech Glue Gun to make Faux Wax Seals and to attach ribbons and flowers to altered CD's.

The photo below shows a finished card made with a wax seal. This terrific seal is made with a sparkled wax stick from Global Solutions. If you aren't familiar with making wax or faux wax seals I invite you to see our how-to article.

The Adhesive Tech: Two Temperature Cordless Glue Gun is a terrific glue gun. It is dependable, easy to use and comes with it's own stand. The extra features were disappointing. The instructions in the pack age need to be more detailed. The cordless option is a good idea, but not necessary unless a rechargeable battery is inside. The dual temperature settings are probably useful, but it would be necessary to explain what the dual settings are used for. I can recommend this glue gun for purchase as a regular glue gun. The extra features, while having potential, need more development.

Adhesive Tech has come out with a great new product, the Cordless Glue Gun, and I was lucky enough to get to use it. (Can you tell my feelings about this product already?)

The product is a two temperature Cordless Glue Gun. What a very cool idea. The glue gun allows for you to set it to one of two settings, 380°F (193°C) or 260°F (127°C). Once thoroughly heated, (approximately 10 minutes), you can use the glue gun plugged in or remove the c ord for cordless gluing. Once you have removed the cord, you have about 10 minutes of good gluing time. Another 5 minutes on top of that for thicker application. This feature is great if you want to glue something that is away from your workstation or too far from the outlet. However, the Glue Gun does come with an eight foot cord which allows for a lot of mobility.

The Cordless Glue Gun works great with the Multi Temp round glue sticks from Adhesive Tech. This glue gun requires the 4" x .44" sized glue sticks as shown in the photograph above. You can also use other products like wax sticks for other projects.

Using the Cordless Glue Gun is very easy. In order to start using the gun, you need to insert two glue sticks. Once the first stick has melted enough, you will see the second stick going farther into the gun. This is done with a mechanism that pushes the glue stick into the gun when you squeeze the trigger. You always need a second glue stick available in order to use the glue stick that is currently in the glue gun.

Squeezing trigger, causing the glue stick to go into the glue gun

To get the glue out of the gun, gently squeeze the trigger onto the surface you are gluing and Voila! Just note that you will get glue strings when you stop squeezing the trigger and pull the glue gun away from your project. These strings can be easily removed once cooled.

When the Cordless Glue Gun is connected to the cord, there is a safety light on the side of the gun showing it is on. There is no light however once you have disconnected the gun. A suggestion for future models of the Cordless Glue Gun would be to have a safety light that stays on until the gun cools to a safe temperature. This is important especially if you have little hands constantly reaching up to your workstation.

I was able to create one layout where I found use for the Cordless Glue Gun. I was working away from home and I forgot to pack brads for my project. So, I took small pieces of scrap patterned paper and cut them to the size I needed. I then used a small dot of glue from the Cordless Glue Gun and placed the paper on top. This raised the paper up and I then had faux brads!

Making Memories – Vellum Tag
Two Busy Moms - patterned paper, mini square tag
Bazzill Basics - cardstock
Jo Ann Scrap Essentials – silver bookplate
ColorBox – fluid chalk ink
Fibers By The Yard – blue satin ribbed ribbon
Paper Bliss – White Rub-on word
Other – chain

In summary, the new Cordless Glue Gun from Adhesive Tech is a really good product. The cordless feature is very cool and I think will make this product a leader in the market. There are not a lot of uses for scrapbooking, which is my main craft. It is also not the best gluing option if you need precise gluing. But if y ou do crafts that involve a lot of gluing such as working with wood, metal, ceramics, etc. and you need to use a glue gun, I highly recommend the Cordless Glue Gun from Adhesive Tech.
