Review by ReneeI love to explore new products and new scrapbook lines. I have had only minimal contact with Glitz designs, but all of it has been refreshing. I love their patterned papers and have been pleased with everything that I have worked with. I very excited to discover that we would be reviewing products from this fun, up and coming company.
For this review, I received three cardstock sticker sheets (a Journaling sheet, a titles sheet and a set of alphabets) from the Sparrow collection. I also received a sheet of rub on’s from this same collection as well as a roller doodle distressing tool. This tool very much resembles a rolling stamp, but with a distressed pattern on it. My pattern resembled an old screen.
I really enjoyed working with the title stickers from this collection. They were nice and big, with all of the newest shapes used like bracket frames and scallops. The color schemes worked really well with a number of different color palettes, making them very versatile to use. I also really liked the exquisite rub on’s. Not only were they very elegant, but they rub on like butter and have a slight shine to them which is very pleasing.
For my first project, I used the bracket frame set of stickers from the Titles sticker sheet. This particular sticker is a three sticker combination, allowing the user to customize how it is used. I chose to use the bracket frame directly against the layout, and then mount the two interior stickers on cardstock, allowing me to use dimensional foam tape to raise the inside stickers up. I also used the cute, circular journaling spot to record the particulars of my layout.

For my second project, I decided to use another of the cute title stickers to make a card this time. I love everything scalloped so the smile always sticker immediately spoke to me. I mounted it with foam tape above a piece of cardstock to create dimension on my card. I also used the distressing tool to create my own background paper. The result is an earthy card with a great sentiment.

I had a great time playing with the Glitz design products. They are fun and versatile. I love the distressing tool and can see many possibilities with this product. Give Glitz a try if you have not already.
Review by TammyGlitz Design, winner of the CHA 2009 Exhibiting with Excellence BEST OF SHOW award, brings you some of the hottest trends in the scrapbooking industry. From Eye Candy to Distressing Stamps, Stickers, Paper, and Rub-on’s, you are going to find trendy products that will definitely add a little “Glitz” to your designs!
The products I was sent to work with are from the Sparrow collection. I received one each; Rub on’s, Alpha cardstock stickers (2 sheets), Journaling cardstock stickers, and, Titles cardstock stickers. I also received a Roller Doodle; Giant Roller Distressing Grid.
The cardstock stickers were made of a heavy weight paper that removed easily from the backing paper. I also loved the fact that 2 sheets of Alpha cardstock stickers were included in the package since I continually run out of certain letters, vowels mostly. The rub on’s were easy to manage and transferred onto my projects with minimal effort.
The Roller Doodle comes in two different sizes, small and giant. Now don’t let the word “giant” scare you, the roller itself is only 1 inch wide. The Distressing Grid roller is a pattern of mesh-like squares that when rolled across an ink pad gives you a continuous pattern.
The Sparrow Alpha cardstock stickers are a really nice brown color but for my layout, I really needed them to be black in order to match with my Sparrow cardstock title, “Delight”. To solve this dilemma I used a permanent black marker and colored over the letters that I would use in my title. To add a bit of distressing I used the Distressing Grid roller and brown ink to make a pattern over the dot patterned paper and along the side and bottom of the photo. A Journaling cardstock sticker provided a nice frame around my journaling and a few of the rub on’s added the final embellishment.

My son took this picture last year and the “exquisite” rub on found in the Sparrow collection seemed to fit perfectly. I also used the Distress Grid Roller Doodle with brown ink on the petals of my flower and along the edge of my layout. To help my roller pattern stay in a straight line I used a ruler and ran the roller along the edge. I then used the Sparrow Alpha cardstock stickers for my title and added a rub on to the end of my title and my layout was finished in under 20 minutes!

The Glitz Design Sparrow collection embellishments and Roller Doodle didn’t let me down. The products well exceeded my expectations and I am now totally addicted to the Roller Doodles! What a quick and easy way to add a border or design to any paper crafting project!
This is the first time I have used Glitz Design products and I will be looking for more! The next time you are in your local scrapbook store or shopping online, don’t forget to check out the Sparrow Collection from Glitz Design – and pick up a Roller Doodle or two while you are at it!
Review by StephanieGlitz Design has been in the scrapbook market approximately two years. During this time, I have watched them grow from one paper line to seven. The inclusion of die cuts, stickers, alphabets, stamps and quotes to their lines has added to their appeal. Glitz has worked hard to create what the scrapper wants and I was thrilled to find out I’d be reviewing some of Glitz’s products this month.
For my review, I received an alphabet set, journaling blocks, titles and rub-ons from the Glitz Sparrow collection, as well as a Distressed Roller Doodle. Roller Doodles are fun as they are circular shaped stamps that are first rolled into ink then onto your project to create dimension. The stickers are cardstock quality so they hold up well to repositioning if you don’t like the original placement. They peel easily from their backing and come in various shapes and sizes. Each item was individually packaged and neatly tagged.
I created two cards using the title stickers and journaling boxes. They take center stage, but don’t overpower the cards. They were definitely easy to use and created quick and stunning cards. On my first card, I used the roller doodle on the cardstock to create a pattern onto which I added the journaling block and word “hi”. It produced a nice faux distressed appearance.

I wanted to use the letter stickers on my next layout, but found they did not quite match my papers, so I decided to paint them. As they are cardstock stickers, they easily took the paint without warping. Giving them a few minutes to dry, they added a nice title to my layout. The quotes are colorful and highly detailed. The quote I used looks like it was printed directly on the journaling sticker.

Thanks Glitz, I really enjoyed working with your products this month and can see more product use in the future.
Review by Pomaika`iGlitz Design (topped with a pink crown in their logo) is a new scrapbook product company created by three women, Erin DeSpain, Ginger John and Laura Funk. According to their website, the Glitz Design Founders enjoy creating their products and working with their customers. In addition to their products, Glitz Design has quickly become known for their stellar customer service. They recently won the Best of Show Award at CHA in the Scrapbook and Paper Craft section of the show.
I was excited when I found out that I would be reviewing a few Glitz Design products this month. Prior to this I had heard mention of them on a few of the scrapbook related blogs I frequent, but hadn’t seen any of them in person. I have to admit that just the word “glitz” sets up expectations of bling and something special.
For this review I received five products. One Roller Doodles “Grid” Distressing Tool (a roller stamp with a grid design), Three packages of cardstock stickers from the Sparrow design line (12 x 6” each) including one each of Journaling (journal spots), Titles, Alphabets, and finally one package of rub-ons (6 x 6”).
The Sparrow line uses bold, rich and bright browns, reds, yellow and greens. The Cardstock stickers and rub-ons are attractive and eyecatching. The Alphabets are a cool chocolate brown color with a total of four of each letter (two upper and two lowercase.)
Using the cardstock stickers were easy. They are sturdy and peel easily from their backing. They stick strongly to textured as well as plain paper surfaces. I found them easy to use and an attractive addition to my projects.
In general, the rub-ons are easy to apply. The smaller rub-ons transfered cleanly and easily with moderate rubbing. I had a little difficulty adhering the larger rub-ons (particularly the one with lots of tiny lettering) to my cardstock, but they evenutally transfered completely and did not distort or rip apart despite being lifted and replaced many times. I liked the rub-on designs, they were interesting and fun to use as embellishments.
I LOVE the little pink handled Roller Doodles “Grid” Distressing Tool. The one I received had a small grid pattern on it. The tool has a pink plastic handle with a rubber covered plastic roller. At first the tool seems like it would be a little flimsy, but in reality, it is pretty sturdy. The roller spins freely and the stamp makes a very nice impression on both textured and plain cardstock. I used both embossing ink and dye ink during this review, and each time, this little tool came through with flying colors! I noticed that the roller can be removed from the handle for interchangeable heads. This would cut down on the need for storage space. How cool!
My first project is a layout. I created a background paper using the Roller Doodle Stamp. The Journal and Title cardstock stickers have great backgrounds and come in a variety of coordinating designs. It was easy to find onea few to complement my projects. I cut one of the frames to use as an accent for the top of my photo. Instead of using a paper matte, I painted a little acrylic paint around my photo.
The chocolate colored Alphabet Stickers are gorgeous and easy to use. I do have one suggestion for the manufacturer, I would love it if they considered providing more vowels and more of the more popular letters on their alphabet sheets. Four letters are just not enough. The alphabets are so attractive and easy to use that increasing the number of frequently used letters would allow this product to be used more fully in a greater quantity of projects. Creating a title was easy using these Alphabets in combination with a title sticker.

My second project was a set of cards. I used the Doodle Roller and embossing ink for most of my backgrounds. I used the Sparrow Titles to create a focal point for my cards and added a few brads for accent and the cards were completed quickly and easily!

I had a blast playing with these Glitz Design products. I was impressed with the high quality of the materials and printing. The designs are fun and innovative and can be used for a variety of projects. I am super glad that there are many other designs of Roller Doodles both large (like the one I reviewed), and small. You have to check them out, they are tons of fun!
I think that scrapbookers, cardmakers, paper crafters and stampers of all levels would love playing with these Glitz Design products. Check out the Glitz Design website at www.glizitnow.com for the many other Doodle Roller and cardstock sticker choices.
Review by DonnaThere are a handful of companies that offer a terrific array of scrapbook goodies for both scrapbookers and cardmakers to choose from. You know them, the companies that offer everything - papers, rubber stamps, border stickers, glitter stickers, title stickers, rubons and more. Well, Glitz Design has covered all of the bases and they have hit the ball right out of the park!
Glitz Design, is owned by three women scrapbookers, Erin DeSpain, Ginger John and Laura Funk, who, at the company’s inception in 2007, wanted “. . . to CREATE exciting and fabulous NEW scrapbooking products.” Well, they have done that and more – its no wonder these ladies won the CHA 2009 Exhibiting with Excellence Best of Show Award.
For this review, I received one package of rubons as well as one package each of title, journaling spot and alphabet cardstock stickers, all from the Glitz “Sparrow’ collection, which debuted at Winter CHA this year. With bright colors including pink, yellow, turquoise, red and green accented by chocolate brown, I fell in love with each and every one of these products as soon as I laid eyes on them. But really, what’s not to love? The rubon sheet measures about 6” x 6”, and includes images of flowers, birds and scrolls among others, there are two sets of alphabets, both upper and lower case, in the alphabet sticker set, mine were chocolate brown, the title stickers come in several fun shapes and are perfectly sized for their intended use, and the journaling spots are in a fun variety of shapes and sizes including brackets, circles, rectangles and more. Each of the sticker packages measured 6” x 12” in size, with designs including phrases such as “notes”, “delight”, “smile always”, “beautiful you” and “you enchant me” - and all of the products coordinate just beautifully with each other.
There is a wonderful feel of “fun” to this collection. Sparrow just seems to exude a sense of happy, and is perfect for use on just about any greeting card or scrapbook page, whether that be a page for girls, boys, birthdays, spring, summer and so much more or a simple card, to say thank you, hello or good luck.
I was tickled to discover that I also received one of Glitz’s small Roller Doodles in the “Grid Distressing Tool” design for this review. For those who aren’t familiar with these, Roller Doodles are Glitz’s fun rubber stamps on a wheel - simply roll the wheel over your ink pad and right on to your project! Available in two sizes with a variety of designs to choose from, including curls, arrows, stars hearts and more, its easy to get hooked on these (I’m thrilled to have one more in my ever-growing collection!).
As mentioned earlier, these products coordinate beautifully together, making it really easy to use them all together on a project, so, that’s exactly what I did for my first one, “delight”. I began by cutting up three different journaling stickers and then arranged them as elements around both of the photos (they stuck to each other and the cardstock very, very well). After arranging and placing the rest of the papers, photos and elements on the page, I lastly applied pop dots to the title sticker and adhered it to the page. Because these cardstock stickers are of such a great weight, the title remained nice and stiff and popped up beautifully.

For my second project, I created another layout, this time, using the journaling stickers, title stickers, rubons and the Roller Doodle. Here, I used two of the stickers whole, treating the journaling one as I would any other piece of patterned paper, layering it behind my photo, one as a bracket frame on the photo, and one, cut into thirds, was used as tabs, on the left, right and bottom of the photo. I next cut one of the flower rubons in half, and applied it at the top, left. The rubon worked nicely with only a small amount of pressure having to be applied. After arranging the trims, stickers and buttons, as a last step, using white craft ink on the Roller Doodle, I stamped, well, rolled, the grid lines over all of the layers, including the photo, on the far right edge of the page. I loved the resulting look. The Roller Doodle inked up quite nicely and the grid image transferred to the papers and the photo very well – easy to use, and easy to clean these Roller Doodles are.

I had gotten so involved in creating with the rubons, Roller Doodle and other stickers when all of a sudden I realized that I had completely forgotten about the alphabet stickers, so, for my third and last project, I created a card using those. Here, I again cut up one of the journaling stickers and layered it behind a piece of patterned paper that I had previously applied a rubon to (this was a rather large rubon, and a little extra pressure was needed for a smooth application). After adding a small transparency over the rub on, some lace, buttons and flowers, I added the “thanks” sentiment over the transparency. And, just as was the case with the other stickers, the alphabet stickers were of a great weight and adhered very well, this time, to a transparency.

The products easily inspired me, and were those sort of products that made me want to just keep creating with. I loved the vibrant colors, the design patterns of all of the stickers and the Roller Doodles – too cool. In the end, I found everything about these Glitz products to be not only charming, but an absolute pleasure to create with.
